Airsoft: Russian Mob Style

Gungho Cowboy

Move over Facebook Mob Wars! The Airsoft Mob Wars is taking over --- Russian Style. Paddyspoint, one of our regular readers, tipped us on this story while he was surfing the web. The report is parse, but the airsoft photos are some of the best we've seen so far this year. So I'll try to make sense of what this event is all about.

This event seems to be on its second run, as the title is "Mob 2: Fight for Business". The story plot is based on 1990s Russia, where the Soviet Union was no more, and the Russians were experimenting with Democracy and Capitalism with disastrous results under Yeltsin. As the state-owned enterprises lay to ruins, enterprising Russians fought over the potential business and resources, and the well-connected Russian "Mafia" Dons have their own armies to get their hands on such businesses. As the report says "A comic srtikeball game based on the events of accumulation of the initial capital in Russia 90s."

There were two groups that fought for the business, and the militia going after both to restore order for Mother Russia. The mob groups with Yellow or Blue Team arm bands outnumber the Militia who were in Green arm bands, but they have to fight their protagonists to win the Mob Wars. The Mobs were all kitted out in civilian-mob outfits while the Militia were in military gear, though the multicam outfit was nowhere to be found in the 1990s.

Who won? Who knows? But the photos from English Russia, which is a daily entertainment blog for Russian Speakers, are just really great. So at the end we'll suggest that you click the link to the English Russian blog for you to see all the photos they've taken at this event.

Our hat tip to Paddyspoint for the news blog. All photos in this article are from English Russia.
