Battlefield 4's Multiplayer Mode Looks Awesome

Gungho Cowboy

As a continuation of our FPS video games report as based on revelations by game publishers and developers at the ongoing E3 expo, we now write about what is said to be the most serious contender to the best FPS game title to the Call of Duty franchise: the Battlefield series which will now be released on its 4th title laters this year.

The debate has been ongoing and never resolved among video game fans which of these titles can really claim the throne. If we look at sales figures, then we can give the crown to Call of Duty, but many would dispute this in terms of satisfaction. Many hardcore gamers prefer the Battlefield series over Call of Duty, but then they still get outnumbered by non-hardcore ones playing of Call of Duty.

If you were to ask me which I prefer, I'll always give a predictable answer. In terms of Single Campaign modes, I would go for Call of Duty for cinematic and plot. In terms of Multiplayer mode, I would go for Battlefield, as multiplayer mode is just epic for Battlefield as compared to Call of Duty which I'd rather call them as "skirmishes" just like our usual weekend airsoft games.

For Battlefield 4, the multiplayer mode doesn’t disappoint, and here it's brought to a whole new level. At the E3 multiplayer demo, EA put up a 64-station game set, where 64 players get to play at the same time in the "Siege of Shanghai."

It seems that EA reserved the multiplayer demo for E3 as there were just few information regarding the mode prior to EA, whereas most of the reports were about the single player campaign with parts of it to be brought to the multiplayer mode.  So there are three things that we will note for the Battlefield 4 Multiplayer to  be even more excited for its release:

  1. 64 players. Who doesn't want to be in a multiplayer game where there are more players to shoot at in such expansive maps?
  2. More vehicles. Choppers, tanks, four wheels, jet skis and gun boats. They should have put an aircraft carrier there.
  3. More destruction. See buildings crumbling down, pillars blown, glass broken, and avoid being buried in debris.
  4. Multilevel fighting. Shooters get to battle out with choppers by fighting them at heights in skyscrapers, riding elevators to get an even better shot at such menaces.
  5. Commander Mode is back. Two players help teams make the decisions and supporting them through gunship and missile strikes.

I don't know if we have gotten enough information from the E3 but we're sure there still some good features being saved for revelations at later dates. Here's more on IGN's commentary of the Battlefield 4 Multiplayer game play:
