B.J. Blazkowicz Is Back In "Wolfenstein: The New Order"

We already have a feature story for the weekend ready to go, until I stopped it and put this one up instead. If it's about the video game that defined how First Player Shooter (FPS) video games should be, I'll make room for it any day just to be posted. Most, if not all, of the airsoft players I grew up with played Wolfenstein 3D (1992). Whilst it was not the first game in the Wolfenstein series,  it is considered to be the Grand Daddy of FPS games. it made John Carmack and John Romero of id Software the rock stars of the video game world.

Honestly though, the titles released after Return to Castle Wolfenstein in 2001 did not really get my attention. But the latest title to be released in the series, "Wolfenstein: The New Order" has gotten my attention due to the plot. In an alternate history, the Nazis won World War II, and have dominated the world with even the iconic photos of the 1960s containing mainly members and troopers of the Nazi Party.

Their tools for maintaining their world domination are more high-tech with the use of robots to subdue any dissent to their rule. Even the man in the moon landings was accomplished by the Nazis.

But the freedom loving world still has William "B.J." Blazkowicz, the ultimate Office of Secret Actions (OSA) operative who has defeated every attempt of the Nazis to rule the world.  In Wolfenstein: The New Order Blazkowicz is given the task to launch an impossible counteroffensive against a foe which has super weapons.

The game is being published by Bethseda Softworks ever since id Software was  bought by its parent company, ZeniMax Media in 2009 and moved most of the game titles of id Software to the company. The game developers are the Swedish game developer MachineGames, which is also a subsidiary of ZeniMax Media.  The game engine developed by the id Software before it got acquire, id Tech 5 will be used by this game.

Expected to be released in December 2013, Wolfenstein: The New Order will only be a single-player game and not plans for an online multiplayer version.
