Enhancing the M4 Rifle with the Remington RGP

Logan

We all want to do something to make our M4 AEGs or Gas Blowback Rifles look different from the rest. So far, most of the areas of improvements have been in the AEG area, and the gas blowback area is still slowly building variety as there are just a few manufacturers venturing further and further to different M4/M16 designs. Most of the receivers to change the look of regular airsoft M4/M16 rifles have been with the MUR receivers designed by VLTOR made by different manufacturers and JP Rifles CTR which are only available only from MadBull Airsoft.

Now here comes a design by Remington that airsoft manufacturers and parts makets to look at. The Remington Gas Pistol (RGP) is a complete upper receiver that's purposedly made to provide a quick upgrade path for existing M4s of the US Military. The US Military is looking for ways to improve the existing issued assault rifles, and problems with the M4/M16 in existing combat environments have deemed it necessary for improvements, or the US Military will have to look elsewhere to replace it and the M16.

Here is what Remington says:

Available as a stand-alone carbine or as a complete upper ready to install on your M4 style lower, the Remington RGP (Remington Gas Piston) represents the next great leap in the evolution of the modern combat rifle. Featuring a monolithic upper with free-floating handguard, robust mid-length gas piston operation and toolless disassembly for cleaning, the RGP is designed from the ground up to provide rugged, accurate service in even the most extreme conditions.

The RGP does not need modifications for it to fit the M4/m16 only just a few tools to install it. If adopted by the US Military for quick deployment, if it indeed it passes the tests it's designed for, it would provide a longer life and reliability to the rifles in use by the US soldier.

The RGP uses the Remington ACR handguards which do provide several rail positions and give the rifle a distinct look from the existing M4s/M16s. It also featurs an AAC Blackout flashhider that minimizes visual signature whether by day or by night. The free float tube allows quick cooling and you can secure the wiring inside rather than have them exposed outside. Since it is a complete upper, the handguard used in the Remington ACR is part and parcel, rather than use the existing M4 hanguard. The purpose of such a monolithic upper is to provide a complete upper receiver package that apart from reliability in firing, the handguard area provides the ventilation part to help the rifle to last longer.

The barrel is available in 10" or 10.45" and changing it will only take less than 5 minutes.

The RGP can be available as a complete upper, or a complete carbine. By the looks of the complete carbine, it's indeed a melding of the Remington ACR and the M4 rifles.

It's not yet available for civilian use, but I guess for airsoft, that will not be an issue. We do advice any interested airsoft manufacturer that in planning the production of the RGP for the airsoft market, they should consider releasing versions for TM-compatible M4 AEGs and the M4 gas blowback rifles designed by Westerm Arms, WE, KJ Works, and KSC since these are not are not compatible with each other (which we hope a standard comes out soon).
