On Kitchen Komandos & Types of Airsoft Players

Logan

Time  to have some light discussion of airsoft and FPS gamers in general, and why I lumped both together. In my opinion, airsoft basically traverses two communities: the FPS and Tactical Communities with the latter just grudgingly accepting it, even if it's obvious that both communities intersect in airsoft. But we'll leave the tactical community here as most our discoveries through search engines confirm some of our suspicions thinking of airsoft players and FPS gamers. These are basically observations made by those active in the communities rather than by us here at Popular Airsoft.

By reading these online entries, we also discover similarities in both such as the Rambos, Noobs, and Trying Hard albeit not exactly called the same terms, but you will get to learn about them when you read the entries.

At the Airsofter's Forum which is mainly comprised of players in the UK, they have put together a guide called "Types of Airsofters - A Guide" 3 years ago. Some of the terms maybe just be too UK-specific but overall it's any airsofter with at least a year of experience will understand. It's a funny entry but it is dated and needs to be polished up and new entries may have to be added.

If you ask us, the old Popular Airsoft team always had a term for some airsoft players who always post photos of their loadouts inside the house as "Kitchen Komandos" and almost created a section on this website carrying the same term and just load it up with Kitchen Kommando photos they find online . In some way or another, a lot of us have been guilty of being Kitchen Kommandos just to show our newly acquired gear in airsoft forums and social network.

At the Airsofter's Forum, the closest thing to this is what they call "The 'pocket money' N00b":

Attributes: all of their kit is often bought by a parent or is purchased with the N00bs own 'pocket money'. In general, this kit is usually viper or unbranded and will often consist of a Chinese made BDU and a thin and badly worn helmet. there will also invariably be a tactical pistol holster. This is sometimes paticularly confusing since many of these n00bs cannot afford a pistol. (although this often rectified by using a water pistol/springer to take up space in the holster.)

Commonly, they spend most of their time arguing on internet forums or playing COD MW2 dressed in their own airsoft gear.

Tell-tale signs for spotting one: they often post up their newest l33t loadout on forums, but these photographs will mostly consist of the infamous 'bedroom clear!!' or in this case 'garden CLEAR!!' photos. They will also never wear any type of footwear choosing instead to go into battle wearing socks or nothing at all. When they do attend skirmishes they usually wear trainers or hoodies along with all their newest gear that soon falls apart when it encounters any sort of rough terrain.

Common guns used: Chinese made rifles, with far too many accessories. They will often be two-toned or be styled upon whatever gun they have in MW2.

If you have something to contribute, either comment at the Popular Airsoft Facebook Page or add your own at the Airsofters Forum. Better yet, if you think you found or have a better list, then drop us a note. Everything will be taken in jest.

Next time, it will be about FPS gamers.
