Kowloon Battle Town Promises Tight Close Quarter Battles & A Singing Fish

Gungho Cowboy

I am pretty much sure you clicked to read this story due to the "Singing Fish". The  Kowloon City Battle Town pretty sure has it, singing the Beatle's "Act Naturally" as you pass through a room on your way to find your enemies. This place indoor game facility has some very tight corners and would be very unforgiving to the player who doesn’t watch every inch of space along the way. Some would just pop out to release a BB or two at you.

Hyperdouraku visited this interesting "Indoor Survival Game Field" as how they call airsoft game sites in Japan. Kowloon City Battle Town opened in August 2013 is located in Sagamihara in Kanagawa Prefecture, which is pretty much south of Metropolitan Tokyo.

The design of the indoor game field takes its inspiration from the Kowloon Walled City in Hong Kong, which was pretty much an outlaw's place from the 1950s to the 1970s as it was rife with prostitution, drugs, and illegal gambling as the triads were in control of the area.  The place was slowly demolished by the government for about a year. It was said that the sunlight rarely enters the place, making it a dreary and dark place inside the walls.

With that design, the best way to play an airsoft game effectively is with either a gas blowback pistol or a pistolised AEG or SMG. Longer carbines might still be too long as one has to go through tight spaces and corners where someone might be lurking to get that hit on you.

Either you creep your way to surprise the OPFOR and move faster, it's up to you on how your tactical movement will be. But if space permits, it's still best to keep on changing positions after squeezing off a few BBs out. Players will be constantly moving in this place but you also need to watch your step going up and down the stairs.

The facility is very much well-equipped that even a Triad leader (or perhaps a Yakuza leader) would love to host his gang. If this were located into an area frequented by people at night, this can be easily converted into a Rave party club with all those lights and sound system the game site has.

This game site is now added to the growing list of places that Popular Airsoft wants to visit when it plans to visit Japan for a special project. Now, it's just a matter of prioritizing which of the names on the list, as it's already almost as long as a tissue roll, and if the budget would allow for it.
