It's also a great travel tool so it's not mainly tied to airsoft and other sports. You can record your experiences comfortably with this device.

Vloggers and even voyeurs would love to have this. The only let down is that it's not a high definition wearable camera as it's optimised for streaming online and it's optimised at 480p. But if you're not picky about high quality video as long as the device captures an event clearly.

The Looxcie is available in three different versions: the original Looxcie 1, then followed by Looxcie 2 and the Looxcie 2 2x. The last two versions are slimmier and lighter, and the Looxcie 2 2x can store up to 10 hours of video footage. The lower quality video allows the camera to store more footage as compared to a high definitio video which easily eats up digital storage space in any device.

What attracted me to this device is its LooxcieLive feature. This is a streaming feature that is available for iOS devices for now (iPhone, iPad). You can show the live airsoft action to selected friends and they can watch you peppered with BBs live, or see someone fires a 40mm BB shower at you. If some weren't able to watch it live, they can replay the scene that they missed. They can even talk directly to you with the Push to talk feature, and if that's not enough, they can have a text chat.

The Looxcie has good tactical purposes as it can stream realtime video in a tactical situation, giving realtime intelligence back to the headquarters. I wonder if the wearable camera worn by Astrid in "Fringe" is a Looxcie, but even it's not, Looxcie can give that capability for remote analysis such as crime investigations.

So the Looxcie is not just a single-purpose device and it has many applications, whether it is capturing the airsoft action, realtime intelligence, or some sweet family moments, it is device that can be used for many occassions.

I recommend this as a holiday gift, but it would be awesome if it can record in high definition.
