The Fusil Automatique Léger (Light Automatic Rifle) or FAL is a 7.62×51 NATO self-loading, selective fire rifle produced by the Belgian armaments manufacturer Fabrique Nationale de Herstal (FN) first seen as a prototype in 1947, introduced during the Cold War,  and was adopted by many North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) countries. Around 17 countries use this rifle and its other variants.

The body is metal construction, giving it strength without adding too much unnecessary weight.
