The CQBR upgrades the M4 with a barrel 10.3 in (260 mm) long to create the MK18 MOD0. The purpose of the MK18 MOD0 remains to provide operators with a compact rifle in submachine gun size for scenarios such as VIP protection, urban warfare, and other close quarters battle (CQB) situations.
