The Noveske NSR-11 Is Just Sleek And Sweet

Gungho Cowboy

More gun porn for this weekend, though with a focus on a rifle accessory made by Noveske Rifleworks LLC. There are still more products that were released during the Shot Show 2012 and no time to write about all of them. However, the Noveske NSR-11 Handguard just demands attention, and one positive thing --- this can easily get an airsoft version, much to our delight. So far, this still a soon to be released product and maybe available in the latter part of the year.

The Noveske NSR-11 is a very slick, and thin hanguard, and shown here on with Noveske 300 AAC Blackout, it's rather what I can say a more "sports car" look, it just sleek, and thin, and you can easily wrap your small hand around it. Noveske says it "was designed with the goal of being the lightest and smallest free floating forend option to the M16 family of weapons." And yeah, I am convinced that they can lay claim to that.

What is also very unique about this system is the "KeyMod" interlocking system perhaps called by that term as the holes on the sides of the rail resemble a key hole. For lack of better words to describe this system on my own, or simplify it for the masses, Noveske describes it as a "a mounting platform for a variety of (future) accessories and components. The days of the Picatinny Rail (MIL-STD-1913) are numbered. The future of the direct mountable accessory is here and now.

The KeyMod self-contained components/mounting hardware index and V-block onto the platform, achieving a secured and accurate hold to the system, while separate lugs take the recoil force off the fasteners. The pass through attachment method eliminates the need for loose screws and backing plates that can easily be lost, or difficult to install. Another advantage of the KeyMod system over the 1913 system is the direct attach eliminates the need for the 1913 system as a 'middle Man' thereby reducing weight and accessory off-set from the center of the handguard." Now you understand why I just extracted from their product description at their webpage.

With their existing upper assemblies, as well as the VLTOR MUR, since VLTOR Weapons Systems collaborated with Noveske in the development of the KeyMod system, the handguard can be perfectly aligned with top rails and prevents rotation against the upper receiver.

Noveske plans to offer 7", 9", 11", 13", and 16" lengths, so you can select which will suit your needs. They also have rail cover accessory for the sides and bottom, with the bottom part allowing you to have a handstop to prevent your hand from slipping and reinforcing your grip to the handguard.

It's just a matter of when Noveske Rifleworks will allow MadBull Airsoft make one for the airsoft market as MadBull Airsoft holds the license to their trademark and designs for airsoft. If the guys at MadBull are reading this, better do the paperwork with Noveske so prototyping and production can move forward.
