RONI-CAA and Hera Arms got another competitor in the pistol to carbine conversion kit segment in the form of Sig Sauer. The company will display the Adaptive Combat Platform which is a universal carbine conversion kit for 1911 and Glock pistols. Thus, the pistols become into Personal Defense Weapons (PDWs) ready to be deployed when you need to have a more stable shooting platform but without carrying another carbine or PDW and use your existing 1911 or Glock pistol.

There will be three models that will be released: Basic, Enhanced, and LE with the LE regulated with stricter requirements for civilian customers. The Enhanced version comes with their own Sig Sauer MIL-GRADE mini red dot sight, QD sling swivel and a single point bungee sling. The enhanced version is a good package if you don't need to look for other accessories to complete the platform for tactical use, especially if you're a civilian.

The advantage of this conversion kits, apart from a stable platform and an SMG/PDW carbine converted pistol, is the ability to add more accessories to it, which pistols cannot readily provide unless heavily modified to accommodate such, and that will take time. The conversion kits can make you do that in no time.

Sig Sauer will be displaying the ACP at their booth (#12240) during the Shot Show 2012. So if you're going there, this should be a part of your must see and hold list.

SIG SAUER ACP – ADAPTIVE CARBINE PLATFORM

The SIG SAUER Adaptive Carbine Platform (ACP) allows any handgun with an accessory rail to be quickly modifi ed into a personal defense weapon or carbine style firearm.

Regardless of the brand, most pistols equipped with an accessory rail can be mounted to the ACP without the need for modification to the base gun.

Fabricated from solid aircraft-grade aluminum, the ACP sports M1913 rails at the 3, 6 and 9 o’clock positions with a full-length top rail at the 12 o’clock position. Compatible accessories such as lights, red dot sights and lasers can be mounted for additional functionality.
