Thousands Attend The War And Peace Revival

OptimusPrime

To say thousands is admittedly an understatement as the War And Peace Revival gets over a hundred thousand visitors and 5,000 military vehicles from around the world. For an event that grew to be one of the big events in Britain during the summer season since it first started 30 years ago, it is no mean feat. It is the biggest military vehicle spectacle in the world, especially when you take into consideration that most of the military vehicles on display at the show are privately owned.

Besides the military vehicles, reenactors at their various camps, The War and Peace Revival is also a treasure trove for militaria collectors, where they can find stuff that can be way further than World War I. For airsoft players, tactical gear is all over the place, so they can lay their hands of many stuff that they will need, whether these are period if they are also reenactors, to current ones. Though I note that there are fewer airsoft vendors unlike before and we only got to visit TAG Airsoft where Dave Manning is always ready to accommodate us, even if his stall is always full of customers; and Airsoft World where they have a lot on display, including 2-tone guns for those who do not have UKARA numbers. We believe that there are other airsoft vendors during the show but we were unable to visit their stalls as the place is just massive.

At the Racecourse, or called as the Arena for the event, came the usual parade of military vehicles from various periods, big and small, and odd or familiar. But for us, we always look forward to the reenactment with the tanks' main guns firing, machine guns blazing, and troops battling it out. In this case it was based on the 1970s movie "Kelly's Heroes" where a band of allied troops went behind enemy lines to rob a bank with Client Eastwood and Donald Sutherland being the main stars.

There are lots to see at The War and Peace Revival and the new place has some gentle inclines that can give you a view of the whole area, especially if you go up the grandstand. It's also easier for us to get to RAF Racecourse as the High Speed Javelin Trains from St. Pancras International in London stopping there for the event, making it comfortable train ride in just 48 minutes to Westenhanger Station, a few minute' walk from the venue.

There are tons of photos of The War and Peace Revival at the Popular Airsoft Facebook Page. We have taken videos and we'll upload the final edited video at YouTube later this week.
