Tommie Lukowski Passes Away After Long Battle With Cancer

OptimusPrime

It is with sadness that we announce that Tommie Lukowski has passed away last week. We know the news have gutted his friends and mates at NYCAirsoft, the airsoft community in the area, and his colleagues at the East Brunswick Fire District 1. Tommie had a long bout with cancer and that battle was fought hard that he inspired a good number of people to have a good outlook in life no matter the odds.

In 2007, months after his father’s passing, he was diagnosed osteosarcoma which is a rare form of bone cancer—in his right elbow. Even with such a condition, he volunteered for the East Brunswick Fire District 1, one of the fire districts that serve the Township of East Brunswick, New Jersey. In April 2009, he was diagnosed with Leukemia.

He was also an avid airsofter, being an active player in the area. Over the years, the airsoft community, spearheaded by NYCAirsoft, Moondog Industries, and Evike.com, have been holding the fundraisers to help him with battle his medical problems as he was unable to work given his conditions and such events helped in paying for the bills. The event Op: Tommy Gun started first as a fundraiser for him and then also became a fundraiser for the MSK Cancer Treatment Centers.

Here are some of the postings from the airsoft players and colleagues of Tommie:

Our condolences to the family and friends of Tommie. May he rest in peace.
