The RPL-7 light machine gun is designed to engage enemy personnel, light vehicles, and unarmored targets. Its design prioritizes adaptability, allowing for the attachment of various accessories, including optical and night sights, target designators, and flashlights. This customization enables the weapon to be tailored to specific operational requirements. A key feature of the RPL-7 is its ambidextrous design, allowing for comfortable and effective use by both left- and right-handed operators. The machine gun utilizes 7.62mm cartridges, including the 1943 model, and is compatible with both standard steel-core rounds and tracer ammunition.

The RPL-7 comes equipped with a low-noise shooting device (LSD), a detachable bipod, a front grip, ammunition belts, cartridge boxes, and a carrying belt. These included components enhance the weapon's functionality and portability. Both the AK-15K and AK-15SK are compatible with various 7.62mm ammunition types, including the 1943 model with a steel-core projectile (57-N-231sl) and tracer rounds (57-T-231P). Both models utilize a 30-round magazine. A low-noise firing device (PMS) weighing less than 0.8 kg can be attached for missions requiring discretion.

While sharing the same weapon family, the AK-15K and AK-15SK differ in weight, dimensions, and barrel length, making them suitable for distinct operational roles. The AK-15K weighs 3.4 kg without the magazine, sling, or accessories and features a 290mm barrel, offering increased range and accuracy. Its length in the combat position is 810mm, and 570mm when folded.

The AK-15SK, weighing 3.2 kg, is lighter and more maneuverable, making it ideal for operations requiring increased mobility. It has a shorter 228mm barrel, making it more compact and suited for close-quarters combat. The AK-15SK measures 750mm in the combat position and 500mm when folded.
