Well, it took longer than imagine but finally it is here. XTech Tactical announce the availability of their SMART Laser which is a sensor activated light and laser device for use in weapons. Originally planned for release in April 2019 when it was first on display at the SHOT Show 2019 in Las Vegas, this is now available to interested firearms owners and airsoft players who are also eyeing it for use in their gas blowback pistols.

As mentioned, this is a light/laser combo features. The light component is a 185-lumens LED light whilst the laser is a green on. The SMART Laser can used with pistols equipped with the accessory underrail.

Since it is sensor activated, there is no need for further finger movements to operate it such as pushing a switch or pressing on a pressure pad to activate it when needed. This is explained further in product information materials the company has provided:

The unit does not require the user to enter the trigger guard and activates as the user breaks the plane below the slide. When using a two-thumbs forward grip, the user will activate the unit by lowering their off-hand thumb.

Conversely, if the user identifies an immediate threat the natural action of the trigger finger going towards the trigger activates the unit. Once the finger or thumb goes back up to the slide, the unit turns off.

Sensor Mode solves two major problems with alternative units on the market: disclosure of location to a threat and new trained actions under stress. When activated into Sensor Mode the unit scans for 14 consecutive hours which can be restarted or stopped by the user.

The Smart Laser also features ambidextrous manual power buttons if the user desires to use the Smart Laser in a constant on mode.

The Smart Laser’s 5 different combinations of light/laser usage ranging from laser or light only to combinations featuring solid on and strobe. The unit has a memory of the user’s last selected setting.

Pricing is at US$179.95 which for airsofters and firearms owners, it can be a reasonable price as it offers convenience when in use especially under a stressful situation.  When purchased, owners get the following:
