Day 2 At The IWA 2013 & Outdoor Classics

Dom

The crowd was certainly bigger on the second day of the 40th IWA. First, I paid a visit to the Bohemia Airsoft booth where progress was made on the W58 front. Last year, they only had a mockup but now they have the spring version of this famous AK looking firearm. All the furnitures pictured are came from the real W58. Hopefully within a year we can see an AEG showing up on the virtual shelves of their webshop. The real verison is produced by Czech Small Arms and it's called the VZ58. The replica is produced in Korea based on Bohemia Airsoft's specification.

Also here, I pictured a drop leg holster which is used by the Czech Army and a review of one can be expected soon on our website.

G&G unveiled their new electronic blow back system during a small ceremony. I will cover the gearbox in detail tomorrow.

At Evolution Airsoft I took photos of the chromed out M4, a custom work done by Lone Star Tactical with R.O.S.A.S custom from the UK. Very nice job I bet it was a real pain to complete this mod.

Evolution Airsoft teamed up with King Arms and Armi Dallera Custom to create an exclusive GBB series. ADC guns are produced in Italy and they're winning shooting competitions left and right. Evolution Airsoft kindly arranged a meeting with Cristian Dallera, the creator of these beauties. Expect to see hard anodized colored M4 receivers showing up at your local range pretty soon, well hopefully soon.

At Real Sword, the always kind staff was for waiting everyone with a chilled beer free of charge, usually guns and alcohol are not the best combo, but after the first day on the show now I'm kind of used to people pointing guns at me everywhere I go. By the way: I know that some of these guns are only airsoft and some of them are props but people here got very poor muzzle discipline. Real Sword guns are still excellent pieces.

John of Rules of Engagement (ROE) certainly enjoyed the show in the company of the ASG twins. We also stopped by the Tactica booth where John tried the Archangel Internal Frame load carrier product which was designed to take weight of your shoulders and transfer that to your hips and provides extra spine support in the meantime. Even the weight of a grown man can be placed on the frame but your shoulder stays free of weight, now you can carry magazines, sidearms, hydration pack and still move relatively free. The Archangel daypack also features the Source hydration pack.

Also at Tactica: a new reflex sight works off LED powered by a single AA battery instead of laser giving thousands of hours of illuminated reticle. The sight features an auto light sensor dimming the reticle under low light and dialling it up at bright conditions. It also works on rechargable 1.2V AA batteries but thhen the illumination time drops to “only” 2000 hours:) and will retail for about 350-450 Eurobucks with production done in Romania. Archangel is also planning to move some of the production over to Europe along with Tactica so we will be able to obtain these goodies at very competitive prices.

Archangel produces a belt with rescue loop and Austria Alpine quck detach buckles. The belt handles a 3000 pound pull. The new Archangel carabiner is also an Austrian made product.

Right next door at Revision, I looked at the 2013 model lenses and the Source products. The Source Hydration system allows you to refill your reservoir without taking it out of your backpack and this could save you some headache on the field. If nothing else this is already an advantage over the conventional hydration packs. In order to refill you disconnect the drinking valve and attach a flexible adaptor which can go over the tap, a water hose or a water bottle.

Leapers had quite a few new products on display. The design is somewhat interesting on their SCP reflex sight, and it comes with red and green reticle. Their M4 handguards were designed to fit real steel but some of them are drop-in versions so they will fit an airsoft delta ring as well. The quality of the displayed rails wasn't bad at all. Leapers displayed their compact light and laser combo that could serve well on either a pistol or a CQB gun as well.

The Bull Dot Series is also a nice idea, a cheaper version of the fancy big dot lasers surfacing recently. The dot size is about 4 inches at 30nmeters. The green version is slightly larger but it isn't different in function.

The second edition of the Flashbang magazine is out and it deals with 3 elite unit: French Hubert, Belgian ESI-SIE and the Las Vegas SWAT. In the magazine airsofters can check what kind of equipment these units use, but down to very last patch. All the photos are very detailed and they come with the complete approval of the above mentioned units. A certain sum of the earnings will go to these special units or a charity of their choice.
