HSP's New Disruptive Environments Chest Rig

Gungho Cowboy

Just when I thought that the Crye Precision Jumpable Plate Carrier is going to be my favourite Chest Rig for this year, along comes this new development from Haley Strategic Partners with their release of the HSP Disruptive Environment Chest Rig. Looking at the photos posted online, it has some to offer which the JPC does not though protection-wise the JPC has still its advantage. Profile-wise the HSP Chest Rig is much better and with its bungee retained magazines, it's more versatile in allowing me to stuff different types of magazines whilst the JPC mainly accommodates M4 magazines.

The HSP Disruptive Environments Chest Rig was designed for a "Fighting Load" which most chest rigs are as they're designed to accommodate only the most essential stuff to bring to a firefight -- you discard everything to be nimble in lightweight in a fierce battle, with the exception of your ammo, perhaps a plate carrier, comms, and an IFAK. But for HSP, their fighting load concept with their Chest Rig means having the following:

4 Bungie retained fully loaded magazines (M4, M16, AK)
2 Multi-Mission Pouches - Fits standard double and single stack pistol magazines as well as other equipment including flashlights and multi-tools
2 Flapped GP pouches - Strobes, tools and other equipment
1 STUFFITâ„¢ Pouch - Expandable to hold smoke grenades and electronics or compress down to near flat

Thus, the HSP Chest Rig is one of the most flexible in the market today and it's easy to carry anywhere. If you have a bug-out bag ready, then perhaps having this Chest Rig with you might be handy too. With the use of the SwiftClip, which is a patent pending innovation from Velocity Systems, you can also use a Plate Carrier to be used in front to provide ballistic protection for the wearer.

Whilst other Chest Rigs allow pouches for an IFAK and radios installed, HSP have intentionally did not include such since in the event the HSP Chest Rig needed to be discarded the comms and first aid are still on you as they will be in other pouches mounted on your belt or bag.

For the price of US$170, it's much cheaper than the JPC which costs US$248.80.  The colours available are black and coyote with camo in multicam, and the Kryptek patterns.
