Gungho Cowboy

Flux Defense Raider X

The Flux Defense Raider X is a chassis system designed to convert Sig P320 and M17 pistols into a platform more akin to a PDW (Personal Defense Weapon). The system effectively transforms the pistol into a short-barreled rifle, offering increased stability, accuracy, and control.

The Raider X is an upgraded version of the original Raider, which was developed with feedback from special operations. It has over a dozen improvements, making it stronger, lighter, and faster, while keeping the same proven design that has been used by elite units. The full list of enhancements is available below.

Whilst it works with Sig M17/18, Sig P320 Family of pistols. However, some parts may not be compatible. Users should take note that P320 carry, compact, and subcompact models require a comp, threaded barrel, or suppressor – otherwise, the muzzle position may cause injury.

It should be noted that the Raider X does not accept suppressor height iron sights or 15 rd. magazines. It also does not fit with M17/18 manual safety, but it can be removed from the FCU and replaced with a cheap OEM SIG pin. Modified Raiders cannot be returned. The safety mechanism does not function with some aftermarket triggers (Agency Arms) or forward set trigger kits. The Raider safety is not compatible with most adjustable triggers.

The Raider X is not a firearm by itself, but a chassis for the P320/M17 family of pistols. It has two versions: one with a brace and one with a stock. The brace is not meant to be shouldered, while the stock is for those who register their Sig P320 as an SBR. The Raider X features many upgrades, but it keeps the same proven design. It is based on feedback from SOF, thousands of customers, and ongoing testing. Every possible improvement has been made.

The redesigned magazine well boasts several enhancements that improve both functionality and durability. An overtravel stop prevents accidental over-insertion of magazines, while a single gate mold eliminates knit lines for a stronger frame. Replacing the pressed-in nut for the ejection spring bolt with a molded-in insert further enhances reliability and longevity. Optimized dimensions improve the compatibility and performance of various internal systems. Additionally, a more powerful primary magazine catch spring ensures consistent magazine retention, with improved fencing on the dual magazine release system for better control. Finally, a boosted rail-lock spring force provides greater stability and secure attachment of accessories.

It has enhanced ergonomics around the top of the grip, which improves access to the primary mag release and safety levers. It also has a modified front frame, which allows for optional extended rails that increase the length of pull (LOP). Additionally, it has better magwells that ease the insertion of magazines, better grip panel texture for a more comfortable and secure hold, and better finish that reduces light reflection and glare.

This product has several features that enhance its compatibility with various firearms and accessories. It has an enlarged and improved suppressor cutout that works with shorter barrels. It also has a pic slot on the bottom picatinny rail that increases its compatibility with different attachments. Moreover, it has a slot on the optic rail, which is raised by 1mm and has modified front and rear ends, to ensure full compatibility with all optics. Additionally, it has a raised inside of the slide channel under the optic rail by 1mm to work with adjustable iron sights.

It is important to note that the legality of the Raider X system can vary depending on local and federal regulations. In the United States, the use of a stabilizing brace is permitted, while shouldering the Raider X with a stock would reclassify it as a short-barreled rifle, requiring additional registration and compliance with the National Firearms Act (NFA).

The Flux Defense Raider X is a popular and innovative system that enhances Sig P320 and M17 pistols. It is adaptable, portable, and stable, but also scarce and expensive. It suits different users, from hobbyists to officers. We would probably see replicas for airsoft use soon enough.
