The Firearm Blog reports that General Paul Tellié, under whose guidance the FAMAS rifle was developed, passed away... "French military blogs are reporting that General Paul Tellié, the lead engineer of the FAMAS assault rifle, has passed away. The General began working on what would become the FAMAS in the late 1960s. It would take more than a decade before the French military finally decided to replace their aging sub machine guns and MAS-49 battle rifles.

HK416 To Replace French Army's FAMAS?

OptimusPrime

This is not yet confirmed, but the French Army in 2009 have been reported to searching for a replacement of the FAMAS rifle. Now, according to the Firearms Blog, they might adopt the Heckler & Kock HK416 according a trusted source. If this is true, then French will be the next to adopt it army-wide after the Norwegians. Whilst the HK416 is in use by other countries, it is limited to certain units such as their special operations forces.

At Action Hobbies for £149.99 VAT Included... "Everyone should know the Famas, whether it be by the real steel reputation or the fact that it was the first mass produced electric Airsoft gun. This model is a direct descendant of that legend. One of the first Bullpup designed weapons, meaning the magazine sits behind the trigger and grip, allowing the barrel to extend far further into the back end of the guns receiver.

Not quite sure if this is really a TM based-one, but their description says it is so or they reused old TM FAMAS decription for this product. Just enquire at Evike.com to confirm this... "This style AEG is one of the first AEG Tokyo Marui manufactured. This is the older version of the FAMAS series with built-in bipod. It has a very long barrel almost as long as G3 for a good accuracy. The gear box is also one of the highest cycle rate gear box out of all Tokyo Marui AEG models.

The Jin Peng FAMAS F1 is also one of the new items in stock at Action Hobbys... "This new line from JP is a real nice AEG, with this new line again they are on to a real winner, I have always looked at the FAMAS, not because i like it but because it was the first mass produced AEG by TM. As per the TM the design is real nice but with an added bonus, this version has a metal lower receiver and does not seem to have the creak the TM version did.
