The Turks Really Know How To Build Badass Shotguns

Logan

They sure do. Previously, we asked ourselves if the UTS-15 is the baddest shotgun in the world, and that shotgun was made by a Turkish company. Another Turkish company, Derya Arms Industry, bring us another badass shotgun, the Anakon. While at first glance, it looks like another AR-15 variant, but indeed, it is a shotgun, and a magazine-fed one at that.

According to the Firearms Blog, "The Anakon is a conversion of their conventional tube-fed semi-automatic shotgun and operates in almost the exact same way, feeding from a magazine forward of the bolt and ejecting downwards. It looks pretty bad-ass, but because it is supplied with just a 4 round magazine, it does not offer many advantages over a tube fed design."

That's the let-down, a four-round magazine, but overall, it's a nice looking shotgun that tries to mimic the the AR-15 tradition, having a carry handle and a delta-shaped frontsight. With a flat-top rail, and a short under rail to mount other accessories. Just like the carry handle in M16s, you can still mount optics on it. Both carry handle and front sight are removable.

Derya Arms Industry is a relatively young firearms company, having been founded in 2000. They have specialized in shotguns and hunting rifles and boast of high quality production. They also manufacture air rifles too.

The Anakon is a hefty shotgun, but looks ergonomic enough for easier handling. It's nowhere near the capablities of the UTS-15, but then this shotgun would probably hold on its own against other shotguns, since having the magazine feeding approach would make it easier to reload, provided that the user has a good stack of magazines to carry. I do agree with the Firearms blog that this could be an even more effective shotgun if the magazine has more capacity, especially if a drum magazine can be made for it.

With Anakon and together with the UTS-15, the Turks have built two of very much modern looking shotguns for home defense or combat situations. Now, if only airsoft replicas can be made for these.
