In a move marking a shift towards cleaner aesthetics and improved functionality, the US Army has chosen Strike Industries' Cable Management System (CMS) for its Next Generation Squad Weapon (NGSW) program. This innovative kit tackles the age-old problem of tangled wires on rifles, not only enhancing weapon handling but also potentially boosting user safety.

The NGSW demanded cutting-edge technology. Replacing long-serving firearms was not a light task. The new rifles from SIG Sauer which won the contract, dubbed the M7, boasts a 6.8mm round that packs a punch, surpassing the firepower of its predecessor. Its automatic counterpart, the M250, promises pinpoint accuracy at extended ranges while remaining maneuverable. Both weapons integrate seamlessly with advanced fire-control systems, providing soldiers with crucial battlefield information and enhancing their lethality.

Strike Industries' CMS is not just a simple band-aid fix. This comprehensive solution offers unparalleled versatility, allowing wires to be routed in practically any direction imaginable – think across, alongside, 90-degree bends, and even U- or Z-shapes. This caters to a wide range of accessories, accommodating wires up to 3.5mm thick.

But the benefits go beyond neatness. The kit cleverly reduces heat transfer from the rifle barrel, a crucial factor for both soldier safety and maintaining a comfortable, non-slippery grip during operation. Plus, the low-profile design minimizes snags on clothing or obstacles, keeping the weapon streamlined and combat-ready.

Durability is another key feature. Constructed from a robust yet lightweight polymer, the Strike CMS kit can handle the rigors of modern warfare without adding unnecessary bulk.

The kit comes pre-configured for the specific needs of the NGSW M-7 & M-250 rifles deployed with the M-157 fire control unit. It includes two short and one long M-LOK cable management covers, along with a Picatinny rail cover for added versatility.

One final caveat: the kit utilizes existing screws and nuts not manufactured by Strike Industries. Strike Industries advise users to do regular checks of these fasteners into their weapon maintenance routine to ensure optimal cable management and firearm safety.

Overall, the Army's selection of Strike's CMS marks a step forward in weapon design, prioritizing both functionality and user experience. With its ability to tame cable chaos and improve safety, this "tidy cables" solution could well become a staple in the next generation of soldier equipment.
