California State Assembly Passes SB199

OptimusPrime

Todd Hopkins sent us an update on CA SB 199 which needs your urgent attention. As of yesterday, California Senate Bill SB199, authored by State Senator De León, has passed the third reading in the State Assembly and has been sent to the State Senate with Amendments pending. The bill is just a few steps away from the Governor's signature . Both the Senate and State Assembly will have to reconcile the amendments before final voting by the Full Assembly before sending it to the Office of the Governor  The highlight of the SB199 as amended is now read as:

"This bill, beginning January 1, 2016, requires  airsoft guns that expel a projectile, such as a BB or a pellet, that is six millimeters (mm) or 8mm, in addition to the blaze orange ring on the barrel as required by federal law, to have fluorescent coloration over the entire trigger guard and a fluorescent adhesive band on the airsoft gun prior to sale to a customer, as specified."

You can read it in full here and you can download it here.

So what can you do? For airsofters in California, they have to call up their legislator not to approve the bill since it will be useless after all as criminals are now colouring their real guns to resemble like toy guns as reported here.

For the members of the Airsoft Safety Foundation, they better have to intensify the campaign against SB199 and provide guidance to airsoft players as this affects both their members and customers.

A good video that breaks down what will happen to airsoft if SB199 gets passed and signed by Governor Brown is uploaded by Robo-Airsoft:
