Task & Purpose: Why US Special Forces Switched Machine Guns

Task & Purpose talks about the new Ohio Ordnance REAPR which is being adapted by the U.S. Special Forces. Ohio Ordnance Works has introduced the Recoil Enhanced Automatic Precision Rifle (REAPR), a lightweight and highly portable machine gun designed to be more accurate, reliable, durable, and easier to maintain than previous models. The REAPR is chambered in the powerful .338 Norma Magnum round but can also be converted to use 7.62 NATO ammunition. It features a simple design that can be stripped down without tools and has a quick-change barrel system that allows soldiers to swap barrels with one hand.  All of this adds up to a machine gun system that can be broken down into three parts and fit into a backpack in under ten seconds.
