We have been meaning to review this product when it was first revealed by Pivothead as we have been looking forward for a great POV camera to use for airsoft games and can take the impact BBs. We tried getting in touch with them but we never heard from fo reasons we don't know. At least now, someone gets to lay his hands on a pair of these video recording eyewear to test.
We're in mid-summer now and more outdoor airsoft events are in the offing and one of the best ways to document large scale airsoft events is to have a civilian drone/RC copters hovering overhead capturing the action from above. Parrot AR Drone 2.0 has two cameras, a bottom to capture the action below and a forward camera to view what's in front of the drone to steer it properly. It can be controlled with a mobile device such as a tablet or mobile phone.
Sony's the biggest name in electronics to get into the helmet cam market with an integrated version, whereas their previous versions were tethered bullet cams connected to a separate recorder. According to the Sony Blog, this will be a lightweight camera with the SteadyShot stabilisation feature which would be really good in capturing the action, the Exmor R CMOS image sensor, and ultra-wide angle Carl Zeiss Tessar Lens.
This product from Pivothead surely gets our thumbs-up as it's a an eyewear with a high definition camera included. There are already some in the market that can do the same, but cannot guarantee protection especially whilst being worn in airsoft games. This one is ANSI Z80.3 certified, which means it's ready to be used for the rough and tumble game of ours.

Finally, our prayers have been answered. We have reviewed X170 before, and we could have hoped for a High Definition Helmet Cam that has more features than the Contour HD (review of which we shall post very soon). Now Drift Innovation shows off their high definition version and thrown in something even better, a night mode for lowlight conditions. Though we would like more earth colours for this, we're looking forward for its pricing and availability.
