WE SMG8 & KWA MP7 GBB Comparison

With the impending release of the WE SMG-8, WE Airsoft's take on the MP7, Airsoft Taiwan with RA-Tech give us a preview of this gas blowback SMG and compared against the KWA MP7 Gas Blowback SMG. The initial report of the WE SMG-8 GBB being available was premature as the product was recalled for some corrections regarding to its power to ensure that it will be able to meet local laws or players can downgrade to acceptable levels. Now, we get news of a most definite release in July with RSOV.com already taking pre-orders at a good price of US$153.99, shipping not included and the black and tan versions will be released at the same time.

WE SMG-8 GBB Now Available

It seems that the WE Airsoft SMG-8 Gas Blowback SMG is now getting into the hands of retailer in Taiwan as CWI Airsoft announcing it to be in stock and at a price of US$139.23 for the Black version. This is the take of WE on the MP7 with additional designs such as more vents and different sight designs. It's also as 1:1 scale of the MP7. Price mentioned does not include shipping costs yet.

James Chan of WE Airsoft is finally back in Taiwan after going to the IWA 2013 & Outdoor Classics and here he shows us the dark earth version of the WE SMG-8 Gas Blowback SMG which is 1:1 in scale as the real deal Heckler & Koch MP7A1. The test fire goes smoothly in semi and full auto modes, and the only thing that players want to ask is pricing and release date.

VFC Statement On The WE SMG-8 .22 Version

An official statement from Vega Force Company (VFC) regarding a news tidbit about the WE SMG-8 .22 version will be manufactured by them as posted at The Firearm Blog (TFB) last week. Whilst the story is based on the story from Popular Airsoft, the update regarding that VFC will be the OEM for the .22 version did not come from us.

We're still having second thoughts on the design of the WE SMG-8 gas blowback SMG, which we call the mutant version of the H&K MP7A1. Anyway, whilst we're pondering on the design, here's Public Enemy gettin the scoop of of it being test fired. So far, the sounds and firing seems to be good, but until we get some performance data, we leave our judgement for the future.

Meet WE's Mutant MP7: The SMG-8

It seems to be a trend by some airsoft companies based in Taiwan to make some external design changes on existing firearms to make a new model. ICS and G&G are two, and here is WE with its own approach, and in this case it's the MP7 which seem to be the base design for the SMG-8 according to Public Enemy.  It might take an acquired taste to like this design.
