Hyperdouraku: Japan Steel Challenge 2013

OptimusPrime

It seems to be an airsoft practical shooting competition month this October as three major events happened in different parts of the world. This weekend saw the Airsoft Surgeon Practical Shooting European Championship (UK) and Taiwan Practical Shooting Association (TPSA) Level 3 Action Air Match (Taiwan). A week before that the Japanese Steel Challenge 2013 happened in Tokyo last 13 October where Mach Sakai, the 2004 Steel Challenge Champion in the US, won this year.

Hyperdouraku reports on this event, which is Japan's version of the Steel Challenge, albeit it is an airsoft shoot rather than real steel. An interesting development for airsoft practical shooters to take note is that Japanese airsoft players are having HPA to power their pistols for more consistency rather than rely on gas magazines. Mach Sakai actually used two large tanks which means a longer hose to follow him when running through the courses. Other players had smaller HPA tanks for them to attach to their belts and less hose to worry about.
