Airsoft Business helping Main Street come alive

During the economic downturn, with Wall Street taking a huge beating from politicians and ordinary citizens alike for "corporate greed", and big companies turning from "Great" to "Good" and affecting Main Street USA, there are people who are taking up the cudgels of putting up new business and contributing to improvements in some towns and cities across the country. With empty warehouses and shops being up for rent or sale at cheaper prices, these have been snapped up by enterprising individuals who contribute greatly to the local economies.
One example is a business man who provides airsoft gear, and put up a indoor course for airsoft players to use while not being far from where they live. As reported by Independent Mail.com:
One block over from Main Street on East Whitner Street is Battlecat Sports, owned by Chad Duncan. The transformed warehouse is part store-part arena for those who like to battle it out with airsoft guns — a gun that shoots tiny pellets that sting but are not lethal.
Duncan said the business opened in October after first moving to the Anderson Mall three years earlier.
For now, he’s leasing the old Dexter Grocery warehouse — or at least the newer part of it.
In the building’s 14,000 square feet, Duncan has set up a store in the front, selling airsoft guns and equipment, then a lounge complete with a television and a couch. And to the side of the lounge is a large doorway that leads to an indoor course where Duncan and his staff have set up a mock town, complete with military equipment.
His reason for moving downtown, Duncan said, is so he could contain his business, including the arena, in one place.
“I’ve been pleased with downtown,” Duncan said. “Our numbers have been steady. And as people learn we are here, our business grows. Now my goal is I’d like to see downtown grow.”
Duncan’s not by himself. And other businesses continue to add to downtown’s mix, making that growth more of a reality.
with airsoft still growing around the world, it is nice to see that it's helping out in business, and helping the local economy. Now, if we see more of these types, the more airsoft will establish roots everywhere.
