Close Quarters Combat at Rules of Engagement

OptimusPrime

As spotted before, a CQB site in Essex has opened last 06 April 2009. Called the Rules of Engagement, the CQB site is 22,000 square feet with enough rooms for exciting engagements in a close quarters scenario. It is a great maze and the owners have done a great job of ensuring that the site is thrilling for those who need rush of doing CQB games. For 25 quid, you get to play a whole day's series of games that will surely make your money's worth.

It is utterly confusing as you go around in room clearing looking for OPFORs or objectives and that is the fantastic ingredient in CQB sites. Firing in semi-mode only, you can whip out your pistol and go head-to-head against those using AEGs. The semi-mode rule levels the playing ground and for some, going pistol packing is a great treat. The rooms are modular and the site can be reconfigured after a few months, so being a veteran player there will be useless as new configurations will confuse you. Marshals are perched high and they have a bird's eye view of the site and making it safe for them from stray bbs.

If not careful enough, you get to have blue on blue engagements (guilty!), and if you're smart enough you can position yourself where you think the opposing group will be bottled up. There are life-size dummies there that you will tend to shoot at when barging into a room.

Scenarios are great, and you are allowed to give suggestions on how games can be played.  Fun parts are the bomb defuse and rescue the hostages in which we failed as the last player from the opposing team executed the hostages we were seeking (sorry Christina!).

If you hate playing in wet weather, and still enjoy an airsoft skirmish, try this site out. Day games allow AEGs, while night games go for pistol games. It is also has a great potential for airsoft practical shooting and as a law enforcement training.

Full review of the site will be published in the April 2009 issue of the Popular Airsoft Magazine. More photos below:
