The Springfield 1911 TRP represents a modern iteration of the Tactical Response Pistol (TRP) series, introducing the Agency Optic System (AOS). This significant upgrade, developed in collaboration with Agency Arms, addresses the growing demand for enhanced aiming solutions by enabling the secure mounting of various red-dot optics.
A core feature of the AOS system is its adaptability, using adapter plates that incorporate serrated rear sights. This design ensures compatibility with many prevalent optic footprints, providing users with a reliable backup sighting mechanism. Additionally, the inclusion of these plates allows for seamless transitions between different optic types.
Expanding the TRP line's versatility, Springfield Armory has introduced the 9mm Luger caliber alongside the traditional .45 ACP. This marks the first time the TRP is offered in 9mm, broadening its appeal to a wider audience with diverse preferences. The TRP AOS is available in two configurations: a full-sized model with a 5-inch barrel, designed for tactical applications, and a compact Carry Contour model with a 4.25-inch barrel, designed for concealed carry.

Ergonomics and handling are prioritized through the inclusion of Hydra G-10 grips from VZ Grips, known for their robust texture and durability. Further enhancing grip security, the pistols feature 20-line per inch checkering on the front strap, ensuring reliable control in various conditions. The slide is equipped with finely cut serrations along the top, complemented by a tritium front sight and a black serrated rear sight, facilitating rapid and accurate target acquisition across diverse lighting scenarios.
The full-size TRP AOS model is designed for tactical applications, featuring a Picatinny rail on the dust cover for attaching accessories like lights and lasers. Conversely, the compact Carry Contour model prioritizes concealability with a beveled heel and a streamlined form factor, maintaining performance without compromising carry comfort.

Aesthetic and protective finishes are offered in all-black and Coyote Brown Cerakote, enhancing the pistols' resistance to wear and corrosion. The inclusion of a cover plate for the optic mount and the availability of additional mounting plates at a discounted rate provide users with customization flexibility.
The TRP line's lineage traces back to the Springfield Professional 1911, a custom pistol developed for the FBI's Hostage Rescue Team in the 1990s. The TRP was introduced as a more accessible version, keeping key features of the Professional model. The TRP AOS continues this tradition by integrating modern advancements into the established TRP platform.

Performance is underpinned using forged frames and slides, meticulously hand-selected and matched during assembly. The inclusion of extended magwells (excluding the Carry Contour models) facilitates faster magazine changes, enhancing operational efficiency. These features contribute to the pistol’s overall robustness and reliability.
“The TRP has long been one of the most respected 1911 pistols not only in the Springfield line but also in the broader 1911 community,” said Steve Kramer, Vice President of Marketing for Springfield Armory. “With these new optics-ready TRP AOS variants and the first TRP pistols in 9mm ever, Springfield Armory is taking a proven classic in an exciting new direction.”

With a suggested retail price of $1,999, the TRP AOS is positioned as a premium 1911 offering, reflecting its high-quality materials, fine craftsmanship, and advanced features. This pricing aligns it with other high-end 1911 variants designed for discerning shooters and professionals.
