Mil-Force Japan (International) Company is a Hong Kong-based military products supplier which has clients such as the Hong Kong Government, Japan, Taiwan, Korea, United States, Singapore, Canada, Philippines, and the United Kingdom. It is aggressively promoting its products for the airsoft market providing airsoft players with military-grade products at lower prices.

We met the officers behind Mil-Force Japan (International) Company during the Ground Zero Weekender `08 held in the U.K. last August 2008, as they were one of the main sponsors of the event—with Leo, Catherine and Emily manning the Mil-Force booth at the safe zone. They're a nice and accommodating bunch with Leo, who is the General Manager, being such a great chap. He's also an active airsoft player who went deep into the GZW games with a TM AKS-74U AEG. Emily, the Business Development Manager, and Catherine, the Marketing Executive, are such sweet ladies, always smiling even after three days of answering questions from the airsoft players and getting feedback about their products in use during the weekender.

We promised them that our questions will be in their inbox once they get back to Hong Kong. Surely, we won't miss a thing knowing about their company and what they are all about. They're moved to a new and bigger office in Hong Kong, proof that their company is doing well in the military gear market.

Popular Airsoft: Hi Guys! Can you tell us more about Mil-Force why it was founded and who are the founders of the company?

Mil-Force Japan: Mil-Force® has been a manufacturer of tactical and law enforcement equipment for 20 years. Founded in 1989 by former British Army man Leo Kung, Mil-Force® is a leader in duty gear equipment. His 16 years Army experience provided him the inspiration to manufacture the gears accessories.

How is business these days? Even with global economic crises happening?

Our business is still stable. Although the international credit crisis has so far only had a limited impact on the region as a whole. Banks in the region had little if any exposure to structured assets linked to U.S. mortgage markets. Since our brand maintains its leadership position in these markets by providing customers with world-class products and services, hence, it doesn’t affect much on our manufacture industry.

Who are your customers nowadays and how well are you doing in the airsoft market?

Our customers are the retailers and end users of real guns and airsoft guns.  At the beginning, there was only a limited market for hunters with real guns. Because in many countries, it was illegal to possess firearms, but after the Japanese manufacturers started to produce gas-powered guns that looked like the real firearms, business start to pick-up. Airsoft has been popular in Asia for a long time and there is now a growing interest in airsoft weapons and events in North America and Europe. Countless Chinese brands have flooded the market with cheap entry level weapons. As a result, participants with various types of weapons designed as replicas of real firearms are more willing to spend money to buy tactical gear, and accessories used by military and police organizations. Our products are demanded by the worldwide player. And thus our market has expanded and gained from that.

What products do you make and which are popular among airsoft players?

We produce a full line of nylon tactical equipment and military product accessories.  All Mil-Force® products are popular among airsoft players.

What are your main markets outside of Hong Kong?

Leo travelled to many different countries to attend various trade shows and continually showed his gear to the military and law enforcement agencies. His gears are known all over the world and are in use by many military units today. Besides Hong Kong, our main markets are Japan, Taiwan, Philippines, Korea, Singapore, China, United States, Canada and most countries in Europe.

Where is the production of Mil-Force products made? And are these products being designed in-house?

Our factory was located in Hong Kong and due to rapid growing business; we have relocated our factory to China afterward. And now all product operations are conducted at the factory which is located in China with about 200 employees.

Yes, our decades of design and manufacturing experience mean we can offer our customers the performance edge they demand.

Do you also handle outsourced products by other gear makers?

We do handle outsourced products by other gear makers. Customers are welcome to customize as per need. We have professional OEM/ODM services to help customers produce and design goods. We have been producing premium quality nylon products for various overseas industries for many years.

What do you think of the airsoft market? Do you see a big market for your products in the airsoft community?

Although playing airsoft is legal in most parts of the world, but not all. Some countries have specific restrictions, if their local government continuously impose tighter regulations on guns, then it would also be a strike against the airsoft guns industry and its complementary good’s industries.

The airsoft community is one of our biggest markets for our product. It is because our products are high quality and many airsoft players are willing to use our products.

What other products you are planning to produce for the airsoft market?

Our research and development team regularly reinvents the notion of innovation in the field of holsters design and development.

Who are your main partners in selling Mil-Force products so our readers would know whom to contact in case they want to purchase your products? In what countries are they in?
