Return of the Gas Tank Days?

There is a race to give realism to airsoft play, especially in blowbacks and recoil effects for rifles. Whether this is welcomed by a majority of the airsoft players, only time will tell, as we have just seen the initial re-introduction of blowbacks and recoiling airsoft guns in the past year and more are coming to town. Different manufacturers had different approaches such as WA, WE, and GHK in the area of gas blowbacks where the gas feeding is in the magazine and which I call GBB-Rs and TM, KA, CA, G&G/Top Tech in the electric area, which I call EBB-Rs.
But then, there is another approach, which still uses the GBB technology, albeit differently. The company OPFORCE also known as Daytona Gas Blowbacks is slowly introducing its range of gas blow back rifles ranging from AKs to M16s, and to Squad Assault Weapons (SAW). The videos blow should help you what approach they are doing.
Is this innovation? I can't say for now as OPFORCE products give me a sense of nostalgia where back in the mid-1980s we've been running all over our vast university campus during weekend nights, playing soldiers and carrying Japanese Gas guns with tanks in backpacks. We talked about PSI rather than FPS, CO2, rather than electric. It was fun those days where everyone really knew each other and breaking the law as exciting. But lying prone and trying to roll to a new position was funny --- you can't do it easily as you have a gas tank on your back. But then, the limitations of airsoft guns with umbilical cords to your back are those of having extra weight and getting entangled in the bushes and branches. It was and still is an economical way of playing with Gas guns as CO2 is widely available. Only with the introduction of TM AEG gearboxes relegated this in the background.
OPFORCE found ways for us to play airsoft with our AEG magazines, thus helping us minimise the cost of having expensive and incompatible magazines. Relying on the old TM AEG magazines, OPFORCE makes us play with the same magazines we have with their new guns, thus merging the old and not-so-new. Some say that OPFORCE guns give you the best of both worlds as the bodies are based on existing AEGs in the market; you can take out the gas mechanism of their products and drop in a receiver, put in a motor, and presto! You get an AEG. But that's what we'll need to find out in the near future.
For now, let's allow OPFORCE tell us what they want to share to the airsoft world. We'll know more about them as the months go by...
- Our GBB trainers use Aeg Mags. No more spending hundreds of dollars on proprietary magazines that hold a limited amount.
- Adjustable Fps / 200fps to over 400fps / Adjustable Rate of Fire
- Made with only the best material. They are for heavy skirmish play. All internal parts are machined. Made with Stainless Steel / Brass / and Aluminum / It also Features a Full size Steel bolt. We do not use cast zinc in any of our Training Systems internals.
- Nitrogen powered / can be ran in freezing temperatures with no cool down effect what so ever / Co2 can be used as well
- Each training system will be made in limited runs.
- We believe in quality not quantity.
- All of our GBBs run on Nitrogen. It is by far the best gas available. Not only does it have a crisp sound but it runs clean. It is regularly available and is usually free. Nitrogen can be used in freezing weather with no cool down what so ever. You can literally pull the trigger for minutes on end with no cool down effect. Note..You can also use co2 with this system. We use an external power source. This source is called an air rig. This rig has a female stabilizer connected to your Nitrogen or Co2 bottle. You keep the bottle anywhere you like. It can fit in the back of your vest or can be kept in a water bottle pouch. The external line is smaller than a comm line. You can even run the line through your sling or your webbing. Air rig sold separately. You can order rig with package or you can order the training system with out if you already have one. If you are wondering if your local area has Nitrogen (High Pressure Air) you can find it at any scuba shop or paintball place.
