Athlon Optics SHOT Show 2026

The curtain falls on Day 4 of SHOT Show 2026, leaving the halls of the Venetian Expo and Caesars Forum buzzing with the hum of a community that has successfully navigated the marathon of the trade show floor. The day before that (Day 3), the packed aisles where the latest ballistics were debated to the quiet corners of the Molon Labe Cigars lounge in the Great Outdoors Pavilion, the atmosphere remained electric. Attendees found moments to breathe in dedicated member and buyer lounges, ensuring that the heavy lifting of networking was punctuated by necessary intervals of rest and reflection.

Amidst the commercial fervor, a poignant Suicide Prevention Town Hall served as a reminder that the industry remains deeply committed to the well-being of its members. This gathering highlighted efforts to reduce tragedy through community strength and proactive mental health awareness. Meanwhile, those with a penchant for the silent flight of arrows found their sanctuary in the Archery Business + Hunting Retailer Pavilion. Presented by Mossy Oak, the area returned with a robust display of compound and traditional bows, advanced shooting lanes, and the latest trail cameras, proving that the ancient art of archery still commands a significant presence in a high-tech world.

In the realm of airsoft on Day 3, Lancer Tactical made a splash by revealing its 2026 lineup as they got visited by Airsoft.nu, which resembles a bridge between laboratory experimentation and retail readiness. Their presentation featured 3D-printed prototypes alongside polished production models, including SLR-licensed pistol prototypes. These sidearms are designed to play well with standard aftermarket parts and feature aluminum uppers and textured grips. For the enthusiast who believes a sidearm should have as many specialized components as a professional kitchen, Lancer also introduced slide kits for Glock platforms, complete with ported barrels and red dot compatibility.

The brand is also making a serious move into the gas blowback rifle market with an MWS-compatible system. These rifles utilize CNC-machined components and ambidextrous controls, which is a welcome development for left-handed players who have spent their careers adjusting to a world designed for righties. For the traditionalists who prefer the reliability of batteries, the Gen 4 AEGs are arriving with internal upgrades like the Gate Aster system. Whether one prefers a long rifle or a compact carbine, the brand seems determined to give players a reason to consult their savings accounts this year.

From there, the Airsoft.nu crew visited Evike.com which has turned heads with an expansive collection of replicas, ranging from subtle sidearms to specialized rifles. Their handgun lineup prominently featured Shadow Systems models and a variety of Kimber-style 1911 and 2011 variants. For those who draw inspiration from the silver screen, the Taran Tactical Innovations "Viper" and the "Ballerina" model were on full display. Even the eccentric Kel-Tec Sub2000 made an appearance as a gas blowback prototype, retaining its signature folding trick while providing a more realistic cycling action for the tactical enthusiast.

The collaboration trend continued with heavier hardware, most notably the Knights Armament KS1. This replica mirrors the British Army’s current contract kit and is being developed in both electric and gas formats. Nearby, Strike Industries and Noveske showcased submachine guns and custom rifles, some featuring a "Warm Fuzzy" snakeskin pattern for players who want their gear to have a bit of tactile personality. While many items are already open for pre-order, several 3D-printed prototypes remain in the developmental phase, keeping the community in a state of perpetual anticipation.

They then cross the floor where ASG booth provided a bit of regional intrigue. They announced that the new HPA Evos will be debuting at IWA in March, with no current plans for a US launch. This suggests a strategic focus on the M4 lineup for the American market while holding back certain European favorites for a later date.

Beyond the gear, Evike.com hosted a Meet & Greet with Taran Butler, a figure who requires no introduction to fans of high-octane cinema. The event offered a rare chance for enthusiasts to connect with the man behind the choreography and custom builds seen in major films.  Photos below are from their official Facebook Page.

Innovation took a turn toward the unconventional at the Stingray Airsoft showcase. In a video made by Random Guy Kev, the lineup included a thermal sight priced at a relatively accessible level, paired with a dedicated app and battery meter. For those who enjoy a bit of field-clearing drama, they unveiled a single-use rocket system modeled after the LAW launcher. This system supports four ammunition types, including "whistle" and "glow-in-the-dark" rounds, ensuring that your simulated heavy ordnance arrives with both sound and light.

Not content with just rockets, Stingray also introduced a disposable mortar system designed for field convenience—simply plant, fire, and move on. However, the most talked-about additions were the new recon and payload robots. The payload version comes equipped with a proprietary C4 simulation system and an LCD-equipped remote control. This allows players to deliver a surprise to the opposing team via a real-time camera feed, providing a front-row seat to the ensuing confusion from the safety of a distant barricade.

On Day 4 on the traditional firearms side, Geissele Automatics expanded their horizon with the King Hunter bolt-action series which they reveal in their interaction with Brownells. Now featuring a tactical and competition-oriented chassis from MDT, the line has evolved beyond its hunting roots. Available in calibers ranging from 6.5 Creedmoor to .338 Lapua Magnum, these rifles utilize the Super 700 two-stage trigger. The company also introduced fully ambidextrous controls for their Super Duty rifle line, including a unique bolt-locking mechanism that interfaces with the dust cover on the right side.

For those requiring something more compact, the Geissele GFW personal defense weapon made its debut. It features a dual-telescoping stock that maintains a proper cheek weld while keeping the footprint minimal. The GFW incorporates a phased array gas system designed to manage pressures for both subsonic and supersonic loads automatically. This eliminates the need for manual gas block adjustments, a feature that anyone who has ever fumbled with a hot suppressor will likely appreciate.

The Brownells crew then visit the Nightforce Optics boot with a focus on the evolution of the NX6 family, offering magnification ranges from 1-6x up to 6-36x. While their NX8 line is known for being compact, the NX6 models are slightly longer to prioritize optical quality, field of view, and a more forgiving eyebox. The standout feature is the Field Set turret system, which allows users to set their zero and zero stop in one motion. These turrets can be adjusted with common tools or even a piece of brass, making field maintenance much less of a headache.

For those who appreciate the classics, the EMF Pietta booth showcased a Python clone that aims to be a faithful reproduction of the original Colt mechanism. Unlike modern iterations, this .357 Magnum revolver uses the legacy internal design to replicate the specific feel and crisp action of the historic model. While currently available in a six-inch barrel configuration, the manufacturer hinted at the possibility of offering spare parts in the future, which would be a boon for gunsmiths working on vintage revolvers.

The Firearm Blog’s Hop visited Nighthawk Customs to find a blend of heritage and modern utility. The GI Plus offers a blued finish that pays homage to the original Army 1911, while the Alpha Hawk caters to the concealed carry market with its slim profile and ported barrel. Not to be left out, the Thunder Ranch edition has finally been made available in a double-stack variant, providing a higher capacity for those who trust their lives to the venerable Browning-inspired platform.

James Reeves took a practical look at the Kel-Tec KS7 Gen 2, investigating whether the updates to this lightweight 12-gauge bullpup shotgun actually improve the user experience. The walkthrough focused on ergonomics and handling rather than the usual marketing fluff.

Klayco47 explored the Black Rain Ordnance booth to inspect a modernized AK-style rifle built on a milled Type 3 receiver. With a retail price in the mid-two-thousand-dollar range, this rifle features collaborations with Rifle Dynamics and Krebs Custom, bringing high-end American manufacturing to a classic Eastern design.

Athlon Optics rounded out the technological updates by launching a plethora of new hunting scopes and refreshing their ballistics app. The Ares HLR series aims for the "lightweight is right" crowd, keeping premiums optics under 20 ounces. Meanwhile, the Midas and Talos families received updates to better serve crossbow and muzzleloader hunters. The Athlon Ballistics app now includes line graphs for velocity visualization and detailed weather tracking, ensuring that the data-driven shooter has every possible variable accounted for before pulling the trigger.

As SHOT Show 2026 winds down, it is clear that the industry is leaning heavily into both technological integration and refined mechanical reliability. While the show floor may be closing, the ripples of these announcements will be felt throughout the year as prototypes move to production and new gear reaches the hands of enthusiasts. We will continue to monitor these developments and bring you the most relevant updates as the dust settles and the real-world testing begins.
