SIG SAUER introduced the latest iteration of its CROSS Sawtooth rifle series, a 6.5 PRC chambering, at the SIG NEXT 2025 event in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. This release is part of the company's ongoing effort to refine precision bolt-action rifles, targeting backcountry hunters and long-range shooting enthusiasts. The 6.5 PRC variant builds upon the established CROSS platform, integrating ballistic performance within a lightweight, modular design.

The CROSS Sawtooth 6.5 PRC incorporates a 22-inch PROOF Research carbon fibre barrel, selected for its strength-to-weight ratio and thermal dissipation properties. This barrel is complemented by a stainless-steel heavy-profile radial brake, which the manufacturer indicates reduces felt recoil. The rifle is also fitted with a 2-stage adjustable match trigger, offering a pull weight range between 2.5 and 4 pounds.
This version features a mainstay of the CROSS Sawtooth series --- the folding precision adjustable stock, which aids portability without compromising stability. The rifle's monolithic receiver design is intended to preclude the need for bedding and action screws, a factor contributing to its sub-MOA accuracy guarantee. Each rifle is provided with a factory test target to corroborate its out-of-the-box precision.

Other features of the rifle are a free-floating, ARCA and M-LOK compatible alloy handguard, designed to accommodate various accessories while maintaining structural rigidity. Integrated dual sling points are included for field use. The rifle's Cerakote Moss finish is intended to provide corrosion resistance and blend with natural environments.
SIG SAUER's collaboration with PROOF Research on the CROSS Sawtooth line reflects a shared focus on innovation in lightweight, high-performance firearms. The 6.5 PRC chambering is noted for its flat trajectory and extended effective range, characteristics that are particularly suited for hunting in mountainous or open terrain. The cartridge's increasing adoption among precision shooters is cited as a reason for its inclusion in this platform.

During live-fire demonstrations at SIG NEXT 2025, attendees evaluated the CROSS Sawtooth 6.5 PRC across various distances. Observations from the event indicated controlled recoil, smooth bolt operation, and consistent accuracy at extended ranges. The rifle’s short 60-degree bolt throw and ambidextrous controls were also acknowledged for their ergonomic considerations.
Here is the video from The Firearm Blog TV where James Reeves tries the rifle during the SIG Next 2025 event:
The rifle is supplied with a 4-round AICS-compatible steel magazine from MDT and includes a 20-MOA Picatinny rail for mounting optics. SIG SAUER has highlighted the rifle’s modularity, noting its AR-compatible interfaces in key areas, which allow for user customization of components such as grips. The rifle's approximate weight is 6.9 pounds.

This new rifle is a concrete example of the company’s commitment to innovation, blending careful material selection and ergonomic design with proven ballistic performance. For the outdoors people needing a lightweight and accurate rifle, the new CROSS Sawtooth 6.5 PRC looks to be an irresistible option.
