Perhaps the most anticipated airsoft gas blowback pistol in recent years, the GHK Glock 17 Gen3 Gas Blowback Pistol is finally going to get released with the Asia version on the 1st of September and it looks like it will be the must have airsoft GBB pistol in 2021. GHK Airsoft first revealed this collaboration with Umarex during the MOA 2019 in Taipei and Popular Airsoft was one of the first to have a good look at this in prototype form.
You can watch the video presentation by GHK during the event below:
If you want a rundown of its features, here is what you can expect as listed by the company:
- Steel slide with CNC process
- Steel barrel with CNC process
- Realistic overmolding frame
- Lightweight Magazine, same appearance as real one
- Patent fire control system without hammer
- Maximising nozzle and Integrated cylinder
- Sight kits and magazine base pad both compatible with real
- Trigger pull is similar to real (2.8kg)
We believe that the gas magazine is real cap as based on the initial information we got in 2019, meaning that it has a capacity of 17 BB rounds just like the real Glock 17 Gen 3 except it’s real 9mm rounds instead of 6mm BBs. Even its trigger pull is quite similar at 2.8kg or 6.3lbs as the real one which is 28N (1lb = 4.448N, thus 28N = 6.3lb or 2.8kg). Suffice to say, the GHK version is the most realistic amongst the airsoft Glock 17 Gen 3s in the market.
But don’t take our word for it since we don’t have it on our hands. The good thing is that 4UAD Smart Channel, which has established itself as the no-nonsense airsoft review channel, is one of the three YouTube channels that got the first review units of the pistol. The other channels are Jeff The Kid and Yi Workshop which are mainly Chinese-language but reputable review channels.
According to the Andrew Lai, who runs the channel, it is a snappy gun to use even with its hard kick, the recoil is manageable. He says that it sets the standard in pistol recoil and can be a great for training, Tokyo Marui will have to watch out as its version of the Glock 17 Gen 3 now has a stiff competition from GHK. Apart from the more realistic details and handling that the GHK version has, it is also fully licensed by Umarex, which of course is an obvious advantage over the Marui version.
We’ll see more reviews when the Asian version gets released. We don’t see an exact date for the release of the non-Asian version. Since this is the licensed version with Umarex instead of Cybergun, this won’t be available in France and other French territories though we’re pretty sure French airsoft players can just get this from any airsoft retailer in the EU when it becomes available.
It might become the hottest airsoft pistol for the year and if you want one, better place a pre-order with your favorite airsoft retailer, GHK might have a hard time in keeping up with the demand so better be in front of the queue.
