Whatever you are planning on the airsoft field today and over the weekend, better postpone it as there is a special event for airsoft players online. Activision just dropped the bomb last night thatt they are holding the “Call of Duty: Warzone Airsoft Super Special Event Spectacular” dedicated to all their fans from the airsoft community.

It started today, April 1 at 0100H GMT+1.

In a zoom meeting with some members of the airsoft media, Call of Duty live operations lead, Josh Bridge, explained that airsoft players have been at the forefront of promoting the Call of Duty franchise for decades now, “Airsofters go beyond than just playing the game, they live it as well. When they put down their controllers and go to their airsoft fields, they sometimes relive their Call of Duty gaming experience by putting together the loadouts of their favorite Call of Duty Characters.

Explaining that Warzone can be the closest to the actual airsoft experience as airsofters can also play battle royale-style games in the airsoft fields, the “Call of Duty: Warzone Airsoft Super Special Event Spectacular” will also have airsoft players shooting BBs are ammo in the game. They can opt for game options: Mid Cap, High Cap and All Gassed Up --- reflecting the way airsoft games specify the use of magazines in games. Midcap means four mid-capacity magazines of up to 100 BBs while High Cap allows players to four 350 BB round capacity.  As for All Gassed Up, they are restricted to 30 BBs for four magazines just like in Gas Blowback Rifles.

Bridge also said that even the guns in the game will be sounding like those AEGs and gas blowbacks. We did sound capture of airsoft guns with the most common brands such as Tokyo Marui, G&G Armament, ICS Airsoft, Krytac, and VFC. So once you enter a game and start firing, the sound you hear will be like being in an airsoft game itself!

All the in-match events will remain the same and being hit will allow one to respawn by following the respawn mechanics of the Warzone by being sent to the “Gulag” and if they have in-game tokens, they can use them as well.

The Rumble and Clash are 50 vs 50 games which are large enough but there are other game modes such Payload that are 20  vs 20. All the modes in Warzone are available in the Airsoft Super Special Event Spectacular. Even the Verdansk map is available.

The catch? The Airsoft Super Special Event Spectacular is just a one-off event starting today, April 1 and over the weekend. So better hurry up if you want to experience the only digital airsoft game offered by one of the biggest first person shooter video games of all time.
