There were lots of guns at the SHOT Show 2020, literally, that we can’t just decide which ones on display we want to have an airsoft version. We could hope all of them, but sometimes we just need to pick our favorites that airsoft manufacturers may want to pick-up. One of our choices is the newly unveiled AK-20 from Arsenal Inc., which of course, how could one dislike an AK, the most iconic rifle in history?
Arsenal Inc. maintained the tried and tested AK mechanism, but made a lot of design changes to have features that many shooters take for granted these rails such as rails, QD sling swivels, adjustable gas tube, and a free-float handguard system. For Americans wanting to own an AK but cannot due to import restrictions placed, they can have an AK that is every-part made in the U.S.A.
The first batch of AK-20s which will be in different configurations will be chambered 7.62x39mm. According to The Firearm Blog, there will be a 5.56x45mm and .50 Beowulf available upon order. It will be initialed be released with milled receivers but there are plans that the next batches will have stamped versions, perhaps in the third quarter of the year. At the frontend, we see M-Lok slots for attaching weapons accessories as most firearms manufacturers, as well as airsoft manufacturers, are moving to the M-Lok and is fast becoming to be the standard for new rifles. There are plans for a lightweight version, using Polymer as the main material for the handguard with a heat shield.
The AK-20 has options with buyers choosing configurations in 8.5”, 10.5”, and 16.5” barrel lengths that are already threaded to readily accept the suppressors from Arsenal, also seen to be released in the third quarter.
The Military Arms YouTube Channel got first dibs in having an exclusive look at the AK-20 in Las Vegas before the SHOT Show 2020. Other prominent firearms channels on YouTube such as Vickers Tactical and The Firearm Blog also featured the AK-20 during the SHOT Show 2020.
Arsenal Inc. will release the AK-20 to sometime in the First Quarter of 2020 or early April. The MSRP is seen at $1,999. As always, we wait for an airsoft version.
