In the aughts of the 21st Century some of the sought after components for custom airsoft gun projects were the JP Rifle components made under license by MadBull Airsoft. The custom gun outputs of those who were able to afford these were some of the nicest and perhaps sexiest airsoft guns we have seen.

The JP Rifles CRT-02 Rifles are used in competitive shooting as well as for actual tactical shooting. Rifles from JP Enterprises were used to many IPSC world shooting championships. While the company has been in business since 1978, the CRT-02 was produced 20 years ago, and that decade the airsoft market was also at its very peak. Owning a JP Rifle airsoft rifle was also a pinnacle for the serious airsoft player.

JP Enterprises have released JP Rifles CTR-02 20th Anniversary Edition Rifle to celebrate the release of the rifle. Just looking at the photos in the gallery, there should be a limited run for airsoft as well. However, this might be wishing for the stars given the MadBull has been mainly running silent in the background with no product updates.

Here is what JP Enterprises revealed about this very limited production run rifle in January:

2022 marked "20 Years of Excellence" with the twentieth anniversary of our signature billet receiver set, the CTR-02™. To celebrate, we pulled out all the stops on a unique finish package that will be hard to top when the CTR hits thirty.

We partnered with the legendary Dark Alliance Firearms for an engraving and Cerakote package that you just have to see to appreciate. The sheridan design and weathered finish calls to mind the well-worn leather of the cowboy's holster.

Each rifle is spec'd out in our long-standing 3-Gun configuration with an 18" Supermatch™ barrel and Thermal Dissipator™ with PGF finish on the fins to match the bright polish of the LMOS™ bolt carrier. Finished off with a Hogue grip and Magpul UBR stock, and this rifle is both classic JP and something special at the same time.

Limited to just ten individually numbered pieces, the 20th Anniversary CTR-02™ is as exclusive as we get. Each piece comes with a certificate of authenticity signed by John Paul himself, making this a true piece of JP history.

When purchased, it comes with a single magazine and operating manual. I wonder if it comes in a wooden box as well.

With just ten made, probably each would fetch tens of thousands of dollars and were pre-ordered immediately. JP Enterprises made no mention of the pricing when they announced the special anniversary edition. The exquisite engraving and coating given to it by Dark Alliance Firearms surely puts it as a collector’s piece that will be immediately encased in glass and when held, it will be with white gloves. It is surely a conversation piece.

We drool looking at this rifle which we will never own. We'll just content ourselves looking at the photos.
