Bruce Willis, in his final film appearance, will be portraying the role of a hardened leader of a private military Group which has a microchip that can that can enable an agent to have his/her mind to take over human body and be able to conduct espionage and assassination missions.
The name of the movie is “Assassin” and the story is about a woman played by Nomzamo Mbatha who embarks on a personal quest to bring justice the man behind her husband’s death whilst performing a mission. She takes the place of her husband in the group as she and Willis pursue the suspect which is played by Dominic Purcell.
As she goes into the inhabiting other people’s bodies, Mbatha struggles as she finds herself in a body not her own.
Whilst a human drone project is an interesting thing, as it allows an agent to accomplish a mission without actually being physically near the objective as another body does the actual action, it begs the question of the ethical considerations of using innocent humans as drones. They are the ones that get caught and killed. This is what really bothers Mbatha as she finds herself in a predicament that tests her conscience and moral beliefs.
Bruce Willis is suffering from Aphasia, making him unable to speak properly and is usually caused by damage to left side of the brain. Announced last year, it is also affecting his cognitive abilities. Willism who is one of the top action stars since the 1980s and immortalized via the “Die Hard” series announced that he is retiring from his acting career after the diagnosis.
“Assassin” is set to premiere on 31 March 2022 in select theatres via video-on-demand. It is directed by Jesse Atlas who also co-wrote the screenplay with Aaron Wolfe. Also joining Willis, Mbatha and Purcell in the cast are Andy Allo and Mustafa Shafir. It will be distributed by Saban Films.
