The Bushmaster BA50 Bolt Action Rifle Is Back

Logan

Bushmaster Firearms, a real steel brand that many airsoft players are familiar with, proudly continues its tradition of producing 100% made-in-the-USA firearms. In line with this legacy, Bushmaster is thrilled to reintroduce the enhanced BA50 Rifle in 50 BMG, a testament to their commitment to quality and innovation.

The latest iteration of the BA50 boasts significant improvements, particularly in its bolt design. These enhancements ensure smoother bolt operation, better extraction, and more reliable cartridge feeding. The rifle is equipped with a Magpul PRS Gen3 Adjustable Stock, a 29-inch free-floating barrel with a Picatinny rail, and a Bushmaster BA50 3-Port Brake. These features make maintenance, takedown, and assembly of the BA50 intuitive and straightforward.

Re-engineered for superior reliability, durability, and longevity, the BA50 offers an exceptional shooting experience. It is designed to meet the needs of .50 caliber enthusiasts, providing high performance at a competitive price point. This makes the BA50 an attractive option for those seeking a robust and enjoyable shooting experience.

The journey of the BA50 began in 2003 with Cobb Manufacturing in Kennesaw, Georgia. Cobb introduced the Model 50A1, a rifle that utilized an AR-15 type gas operating system to fire the 50 BMG round. By the end of that year, the rifle evolved into the $7,000 bolt-action Cobb FA50(T), which retained many AR-style features.

In 2007, Bushmaster acquired Cobb Manufacturing, and by 2009, the rifle was rebranded and introduced in Bushmaster’s catalog as the BA50, following several modifications. The BA50 was offered with a 30-inch Lothar Walther barrel and, at one point, a 22-inch barrelled carbine version. It remained a staple in Bushmaster’s lineup until 2019, even after the company’s acquisition by Remington Outdoors.

Despite Remington’s financial struggles and attempts to phase out the Bushmaster lineup, the BA50 was rebranded as the R2Mi in 2020. However, this rebranding was short-lived, as Remington’s bankruptcy led to the disbandment of the company. The Bushmaster brand and its intellectual property were subsequently acquired by Franklin Armory in Nevada, leading to a revival of the iconic BA50.

The BA50 is packed with features that cater to precision shooters. It includes a premium 29-inch heavy barrel designed for consistency and accuracy at long distances, a corrosion-resistant finish, and a GG&G LCB-3 Heavy Duty Tactical Bipod for enhanced stability. The rifle also features the ERGO Tactical Super Ambi Grip. With an integrated Picatinny rail, attaching high-powered optics is seamless, ensuring clear target acquisition. The BA50 is available in FDE and Black, with an MSRP of $6,878, and comes in a fitted hard case, ready for the range.
