All previous reports are right, Activision has officially announced that this year’s Call of Duty title will carry the Modern Warfare title, which is the series story that brought the Call of Duty franchise to its greatest heights in the last decade. The original developer of the Modern Warfare, Infinity Ward, is taking lead in its development.
Here is the reveal trailer of the Call of Duty Modern Warfare, and for Modern Warfare and earlier Call of Duty games veterans, a familiar cigar-chomping character appears:
Yes! That’s Captain Price and he is back to guide the player through the various missions in the single player campaign.
This year’s Modern Warfare will be a totally new story as reported before. It will not be continuing the original Modern Warfare saga where some of the most famous characters apart from Captain Price --- Soap, Roach, and Ghost became favorite call signs among airsoft players as well as their loadouts were the most copied, especially Ghost, when the Modern Warfare trilogy was at its full swing.
Simply put, we cannot call it “Modern Warfare 4.”
To the delight of players who were disappointed with the lack of a single player campaign in Black Ops 4, it will be back and it looks like it will have a very compelling story. It will also include a suite of PvP multiplayer modes, and "an all-new cooperative play mode, featuring a collection of strategic co-op missions."
Modern Warfare will support cross-play for PC and console and there will be no season pass. Infinity Ward will be free to roll out more free maps, content and post-launch events which will make player stick to the online multiplayer matches for even longer periods.
The story will put the player in cities in Europe and in the Middle East, though the current world situation still merits attention to the volatile region in the Middle East, we could have hoped that they tackle other stories such as the rise of violent extreme right groups which are on the rise these days. So for those who prefer the original Modern Warfare “Russians” and “Arabs” story, then this year’s Modern Warfare will not disappoint.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will be available on the 25th of October 2019. It will be playable on the PC, Xbox One, and Playstation 4.
