We continue on putting a spotlight on companies that the airsoft communities around the world rely on for their supply of airsoft guns and tactical gear that have taken up the challenge to support the frontliners by donating PPEs in one form or another or have retooled their production to make their own designs or produce PPEs based on open source designs.

We highly suggest to airsoft players around the world, to make a list of the various companies that we buy products from and find out which of these have responded to the call of the times. It is these companies that shall get our shopping money when it’s time to get new gear or airsoft guns. Better make a mental note.

In today’s spotlight, we focus on two companies that are high on the list of airsoft players when buying gear --- Crye Precision and Oakley. These companies do not need much introduction as their products speak for themselves --- the Multicam Gear from Crye Precision; and Oakley SI from Oakley (part of the Luxottica group).

Crye Precision’s expertise is in garments and since they are based in New York City, the epicenter of the Covid-19 pandemic in the U.S., have responded to the call of the city for more PPEs and are working on producing PPEs with a target of producing 320,000 reusable gowns by the April. They have partnered with companies in New York and have leveraged their supply chain to meet this objective.

As Oakley’s into the production of eyewear ranging from leisure to military applications, it is but natural for them donate eye protection. They announced on Facebook that they have donated 20,000 eyepros for use in Europe and North America. In cooperation with the local medical community they have developed a face shield that they will mass produce for use by frontliners.

What these companies are doing is very much admirable and deserve our praise. We are still very much on the lookout for other companies, organizations, and individuals from the industry and community to highlight their part in this massive endeavor to stop the coronavirus from spreading.
