Smart Shooter SMASH AD

Smart Shooter, the Israel-based company that makes the Smash Shooter Intelligent Sight, announced that they were able to snag a contract from the Dutch Military for their sight. For the Dutch, the SMASH AD system will be used for Counter-UAS (Unmanned Aerial Systems) or Counter-Drone purposes.

Mounted on an existing rifle, SMASH is claimed to be an electro-optical fire control system will give the shooter the first round hit. Looking like a large Holosight, it is comprisedof the smart sighting module unit and the modified grip. On a rifle with M1913 Picatinny rails, the shooter just needs to activate the SMASH unit with the switch. The process is a simple, three-step one: acquire, lock and fire. The shooter just needs to pull the trigger, the system does the rest.

The system even makes first beginner shooters to make their own accurate shots. The Dutch have been testing for a year the SMASH AD, which is the designned for use against low flying drones, and decided that it will be useful for Counter-UAS.

“The SMASH AD includes an integrated Laser Range Finder (LRF).  The SMASH AD system can also receive and display target information from an external sensor, radar, or detection system.

The user identifies the target (independently or by external sensors) while validating the target range through the LRF.  Once the target is locked, the system automatically tracks the target while the user pulls and holds the trigger until a high probable fire control (FC) solution releases the round with precision accuracy. The SMASH AD promises precise, swift, safe and simple hard-kill elimination of drone threats.”

There was no mention on the amount of the contract won by Smash Shooter and when they will start delivering the SMASH AD. Technische Bureau H.A. Muller (TBM BV), Smash Shooters representative in the Netherlands, will be handling the delivery and support of the system.

Dutch Military orders Smart Shooter’s SMASH solution

After successfully experiencing the system, the Dutch military recently ordered the Smart Shooter SMASH AD solution for operational use.

Yagur, 21 February 2022: SMART SHOOTER, a world-class designer, developer, and manufacturer of innovative fire control systems that significantly increase the accuracy and lethality of small arms, has received an order from the Dutch military and will provide them with its SMASH AD solution for operational use. The Dutch military has tested the system during the recent year, and decided to purchase it and use the systems immediately, mainly for C-UAS purposes.

SMASH is a combat-proven Fire Control solution for small arms that ensures each round finds its target. Bringing precision-missile targeting algorithms and advanced electro-optical processing capabilities into standard assault rifles, Smart Shooter’s SMASH Fire Control Systems works automatically but not autonomously, and allows the operator to quickly and effectively neutralise their target. It is a cost-effective solution that can be integrated into any type of assault rifle and combined with other C-UAS systems to provide an effective multi-layer defence solution suitable for the modern battlefield.

Specifically designed to provide kinetic elimination of small, low-flying drones, SMASH AD incorporates a laser rangefinder and enables precision targeting of drones around the clock, with clear day and night vision capabilities. Capable of receiving and displaying target information from an external sensor or detection system, SMASH AD promises precise, swift, safe and simple hard-kill elimination of drones up to 250 m (Day Mode).

Smart Shooter’s local representative in Holland, Technische Bureau H.A. Muller (TBM BV), will take care of the logistics and direct support.

Michal Mor, SMART SHOOTER CEO: “We at Smart Shooter are proud to provide our leading SMASH solutions to another friendly force. We have developed these solutions in order to revolutionise the world of small arms, and I am confident that our SMASH technology will allow the Dutch military to better protect their soldiers, camps and strategic infrastructures against the growing threat of drones”.

Smart Shooter will present its SMASH family of fire control solutions, including handheld operated as well as remotely controlled systems, at the Enforce Tac exhibition in Nuremberg, Germany.
