It’s A Green Light For “Squid Game” Season 2 According To Its Creator

Left and right, we see airsoft game organisers hosting their own “Squid Game”, the massive Netflix hit from South Korea. The series was such a big hit that it has become the show of 2021 and according to Bloomberg, the show generated nearly US$900 million in value based on extended viewer data. That is massive return in investment for a show that cost US$24.1 million to produce.
The big debate was that ending of the series is a disappointment; though many of us also agree that the series ended well, even it is open ended since there will be a possibility of second season. The Independent reported that Squid Game creator Hwang Dong-hyuk revealed that it almost had a different ending in which Seong Gi-hun (player 456) boarded the plane to see his daughter rather than turning back, deciding to stay and go after those behind the deadly game based on Korean children’s games.
Honestly, we are already happy even if it was shown for a single season. But we would not mind if Netflix would green light a second season for its hot property. Hwang Dong-hyuk confirms that he will be working on season 2 during an event held in honour of the event in Los Angeles early this week, saying, “There’s been so much pressure, so much demand, and so much love. You leave us no choice!” The Associated Press (AP) posted the video the moment that he confirmed season 2.
Whilst this will get the fans excited, we better exercise patience in its development. The “Squid Game” took thirteen years before it became a streaming hit. So far, Netflix has not totally confirmed season 2 and that discussion have been ongoing, according to spokesperson from the company.
It is expected the Gi-Hun will be back as season 2 will be picking up from where Season 1 ended, and with his new wealth, we assume that he utilise it to exact vengeance on the creators of the violent and deadly game made to entertain moneyed people looking for a more extreme enjoyment. Players in the game are people deep in debt and they find it their chance to become wealthy and be able to settle their debts. But to their horror, the winners of each stage move on whilst those who lose die, with the pot money growing until only two players remain in the finals, and only will emerge alive.
If indeed there will be a season 2, that means there will be even more games that the watching public will try themselves, albeit in a safer way. Airsoft game organisers would be happy to oblige their customers if there is a demand for more Squid Game games adapted for airsoft.
