Kalashnikov Concern Introduces GP-46 Underbarrel Grenade Launcher

Kalashnikov Concern, the renowned Russian arms manufacturer, has unveiled its latest creation: the GP-46 underbarrel grenade launcher. The new weapon was displayed on 10 August and has already sparked interest locally. According to the company, it was designed at the behest of a foreign client.
The GP-46 is a 40x46mm grenade launcher designed for engaging enemy personnel in trenches and lightly armoured vehicles. A versatile tool, it can be mounted on a Kalashnikov assault rifle or used as a standalone weapon with a dedicated stock. This adaptability enhances its utility in various combat scenarios.

Unlike its Soviet predecessors, the GP-46 boasts a rotating barrel mechanism for easy loading. With a firing range of 400 meters, it can be effectively employed in both direct and indirect fire modes. Its compact size and lightweight design of 380mm and 1.6kg respectively contribute to its manoeuvrability.
A key feature of the GP-46 is its compatibility with both low and high-angle fire. This flexibility allows soldiers to adapt to different terrain and tactical situations. When attached to a Kalashnikov rifle, the grenade launcher does not hinder the rifle's firing capabilities, ensuring seamless operation.

Kalashnikov Concern's new and upcoming products were on display at the Army 2024 Forum that took place at the Patriot Park at the outskirts of Moscow. This event, highlighting the products of approximately 1,500 leading Russian military-industrial enterprises. A significant international presence was expected, with 110 official military delegations and companies planning to attend, and over 190 bilateral meetings arranged. The forum's scientific and business program encompasses around 100 events focused on the advancement of the Russian armed forces and military-industrial complex.
Initially planned for a week-long duration, the event was shortened to three days in a decision made in July. Instead of 12-18 August 2024, it ran from the 12th to the 14th of August. The first day was closed to the public, whilst the subsequent two days were dedicated to industry professionals and required business tickets for entry.
