It gets crazier on the third day of the MOA Exhibition 2019 in Taipei as everyone wants to cover as many as possible, be it trade visitors for business deals; the visiting public to check out the latest offerings and find bargains; and for us at the airsoft media, to bring the latest information and news to our readers. Dropping off my bag at the press room, I immediately rushed to the VFC booth as there are two products that airsoft players want more information.

The VFC MK48 Mod1 AEG is the first one. Whilst not much details have been explained in the video that we have taken (which will be uploaded later on) of the prototype that was on display, it is expected to be released next year. This is something to save up for next year in case this is the SAW you want instead the MK46 Mod0 NGRS from Marui.

The other prototype is the FAL Gas Blowback rifle that VFC is working on. It is just a product reveal as research and development is ongoing to ensure that they can get it right. The FAL has been the mainstay rifle with many militaries around the world and the British L1A1 SLR is based on.

Emerson Gear has a presence at the MOA Exhibition for two years now. They do have some cool chest rigs that you can consider and as always, you can always speculate on which product these are based on. What we can say is that quality is getting better each year, with their tactical and outdoor clothing are some of the offerings they have that were attracting trade visitors over the weekend.

Fight Club Custom got interesting AEGs that will be released with PTW internal parts. You can choose between the 9mm style AR pistol to a full carbine. They will be released for next year.

We have the first media photo op at the MOA Exhibition. We rarely get to have our own photos but we a stage at the venue, we took the opportunity to have our photos taken with interested individuals such as friends from the industry and joined by the legend, Tanio Koba.

Afterwards, we also had our group photo as purely airsoft media and this will become a tradition at the MOA Exhibition.

Going around the venue, visitors were busy trying their hands on the airsoft guns on display and if the exhibitor has a shooting booth, try to shoot some targets to see how the gun performs. Others were checking the fabrics of tactical clothing whilst others were loading up their bags with goodies and swags being given out by the exhibitors. The main attractions were the shooting ranges as it allows them to properly get a first impression of the airsoft guns that they are eyeing at or expecting to buy when they get released in the future.

It was around 1400H when I was able to extricate myself for some lunch back at the Taipei 101 Tower which even on a Sunday, is getting throngs of visitors having their photos taken by this famous Taipei landmark. It was a quick bite for me I still have three booths to cover for video presentations.  Getting back to the venue, airsofters were queuing up to have Tanio Koba sign their airsoft guns and posters.

It was another visit for to Modify as there are requests on the updates on the PP2K GBB machine pistol. Good news is that it will be released around March-April next year, after the IWA Outdoor Classics 2020. A video was made and it will be available for you to view next week.

If there is another airsoft gas blowback SMG that you want, Northeast Airsoft, known for the Sten MK2II GBB, are working on the UZI-style gas blowback machine pistol. The GBB tech to be used is their own designed though it will be using a Marui hop-up unit.

Arcturus Airsoft will be releasing their AK-12 version, rivaling the version from LCT Airsoft. This comes with an easy to change spring and the battery can be inserted with the top cover design to be opened just like in the real AK-12. Just like the Arcturus AR AEG Series,  the body is full steel. Getting my hands on it, it does have a very solid feel showing the quality and effort put into it. The AK magazine is adjustable to real cap of around 30 rounds to midcap of around 150 rounds by using a switch which is exposed when you take out the external case.  Also at the booth of Arcturus/MOS Manufacture is E&L Airsoft and for those who have been looking around for the Real Sword SVD, they now have something that is as well built in the form of the E&L SVD limited edition AEG. Since this is a limited edition, better follow developments on this and be ready immediately place a pre-order when your retailers announce that they are taking pre-orders. Other Chinese PLA airsoft guns were on display and since Real Sword products are hard to find, your best bet is E&L Airsoft.

It was already past 1600H that I started saying goodbyes to friends and partners at the MOA Exhibition 2019. I still have to pick up my luggage back at the hotel and then proceed to Taoyuan International Airport. Having said my goodbyes and wishing everyone a Merry Christmas, it was indeed a bit hard for me to say goodbye to a wonderful city of friendly people and perhaps the most airsoft-friendly country in the world.

Taiwan is where airsoft is right now, having taken over from Japan of being the centre for airsoft innovation. The MOA Exhibition 2019 has firmly proven that with Taiwanese airsoft companies left and right, big and small, putting out their innovations on products that airsoft businesses worldwide would love to have on their shelves. More and more international buyers are coming to Taiwan at the MOA Exhibition as they can get first dibs to next year’s offerings ahead of others who are looking to SHOT Show and IWA Outdoor Classics.
Taiwan has been promoting itself as the “Heart of Asia” for boost tourism numbers, but for us here at Popular Airsoft, the island country with a big heart and proud people is what we call the “Heart of Airsoft.”
