Airsofters love drug running. Before you react to that, I mean they play game and milsim scenarios that depict operations against drug cartels or large scale events that have drug cartels as part of the warring factions. Some games have “drug packets” for players to collect for points such as the National Airsoft Festival. Airsoft organisers might take their ideas watching “Narcos” on Netflix for three seasons.
But they might want to take some game scenarios with the upcoming “Narcos” video game that will be released in November.
Announced in September, "Narcos: Rise of the Cartels" will be released for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. According to the Curve Digital and Development Studio, Kuju, this is a "brutal turn-based action strategy game" based on the first season of the Netflix series.
Players get to choose which side to play: help Pablo Escobar build his drug cartel or join the DEA led by Steve Murphy to bring him down. Set in the 1980s Medellin Colombia, Escobar became the “King of Cocaine” and considered to be the richest criminal in history with an estimated net worth of US$30 billion by the time of his death in 1993 at the age of 44.
The turn-based strategy game is explained a press release:
“Fans of turn-based strategy will experience an exhilarating new take on the genre, with units on both sides moving simultaneously and with innovative new mechanics that allow players to take direct third-person command over their units in critical moments. Form your team from a variety of class-specific roles, upgrade your skills and join leading characters on the path to dominance, but beware - your actions will have lasting consequences.”
Special characters such as Murphy for the DEA or El Mexicano/Gacha for the Cartel have unique abilities and bonuses.
“Narcos: Rise of the Cartels” will be released digitally on November 19th for PC and Playstation 4, November 21st on Nintendo Switch, and November 22nd on Xbox One. If this game gets released, it might lead to another version that is based on the more recent “Narcos: Mexico.”
