BRZRKR, the comic book collaboration by Keanu Reeves and Matt Kindt with Ron Garney being the illustrator, became one the best comic debut in recent years with the first issue selling over 615,000 copies. Now BOOM! Studios, the publisher of the comic book series, announced that Netflix has acquired the rights to the comic book to adapt for film feature and an animation series as a spinoff.

If you’re hoping that Reeves will be starring in the movie adaptation, he will be playing the character Berzerker or “B”. Reeves is such a busy bee these days, having just finished the production of the latest Matrix film in Berlin and with two installments of the John Wick series now in pre-production. He will also be voicing the character in the animation spinoff.

Netflix confirmed the deal in this tweet:

The story is about an immortal warrior "B" whose life is about fighting through the ages and in these times, found himself working for the U.S. government doing missions that are just too violent for humans. In doing these missions, B will be granted the one thing he desires in exchange – the truth about his endless blood-soaked existence and how to end it.

Apart from being an actor in the Netflix adaptation, Reeves will also be a producer along with Ross Richie and Stephen Christy for BOOM! Studios. Stephen Hamel for Company Films, and Adam Yoelin will executive produce for BOOM! Studios.

According to the company, BRZRKR #2 will be available exclusively at local comic book shops on April 28, 2021 and digital copies can be purchased from content providers, including comiXology, iBooks, Google Play, and Madefire.
