It’s time to dust off those Tokyo Marui series of Biohazard/Resident Evil airsoft guns this summer. After production delays caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, Netflix's Live-Action Resident Evil Series is finally going online this summer, more specifically on the 14th of July. Whilst there have been live-action film adaptations of CAPCOM’s famous video game franchise, this is the first time a live-action series is being made for a major streaming platform.
There is no official trailer released for the series, save for that quick teaser they released in December 2021 showing a zombie Doberman.
Instead they released two poster artworks. The first one shows a vial of blood that is positive for the T-virus pathogen and the second one is a pill marked “Joy” and “Umbrella Corporation:
Year 2036 – 14 years after a deadly virus caused a global apocalypse, Jade Wesker fights for survival in a world overrun by the blood-thirsty infected and insane creatures. In this absolute carnage, Jade is haunted by her past in New Raccoon City, by her father’s chilling connections to the Umbrella Corporation but mostly by what happened to her sister, Billie.
The series, first revealed by Netflix in 2020, is written by Supernatural producer Andrew Dabb, who is also serving as showrunner and executive producer together with Bronwen Hughes of The Walking Dead and Away. Hughes is also the director and executive producer of the first two episodes. The first season is said to be comprised of 8 one-hour episodes.
Also part of the Resident Evil cast are Ella Balinska, Tamara Smart, Siena Agudong, Adeline Rudolph, Paola Nuñez, Ahad Raza Mir, and Connor Gosatti alongside Reddick’s Wesker. As for the roles of these stars, they have not been revealed yet.
Netflix subscribers will be able to watch the series by the 14th of July.
