Ceska zbrojovka (CZ) has officially expanded its centerfire family with the introduction of the CZ 600+ Carbine. This latest addition attempts to bridge the gap between heavy-duty engineering and the kind of classic aesthetic that makes you want to wear a tweed jacket and talk about the old days. By taking design cues from the historic Brno rifles, CZ has created a compact, highly maneuverable bolt-action setup that respects tradition without forcing you to hunt with actual nineteenth-century technology.
The CZ 600+ series as a whole represents the company’s modern generation of long guns, relying heavily on automated manufacturing and tight tolerances. While some of the other models in the lineup lean into tactical or long-range competition territory, the Carbine is explicitly aimed at folks who prefer to carry their rifle through thick brush rather than dragging a heavy bench-rest setup across a field. It scales down the platform for quick handling while keeping the fundamental performance intact.

Central to its quick-handling nature is an 18.5-inch threaded barrel with an ultra-light profile. A barrel of this length keeps the overall package stubby and pointable, which is ideal if you regularly find yourself tangling with low-hanging tree branches. The muzzle is pre-threaded from the factory, making it ready for a muzzle device or a suppressor, assuming you prefer to keep your hunting quiet and your hearing functional.
To ensure the gun fits diverse roles, CZ chambers the rifle in three highly common short-action cartridges: .223 Remington, 7.62×39mm, and .300 AAC Blackout. Whether you want to chase whitetail in dense woods with the Blackout, use up surplus ammo at the range with the 7.62, or hunt varmints with the .223, the platform offers a chambering for the task. It brings utility to recreational shooters and field hunters alike without requiring a massive safe for separate specialized firearms.

Visually, the noticeable feature is the lightweight beechwood stock, which is machined entirely in-house. CZ decorated this timber with a classic checkering pattern directly inspired by Brno rifles, giving it a handsome, retro look. It provides a warm aesthetic alternative to the sea of black synthetic furniture currently dominating the market, proving that modern engineering does not always have to look like a prop from a science fiction movie.
Beneath the wood grain sits a duralumin receiver equipped with an integrated Picatinny rail for your choice of optic. If you are a purist or your glass breaks in the backcountry, the rifle also features fully adjustable iron sights, complete with a fiber-optic front bead for rapid target acquisition. Tucked into the bottom of the stock is an adjustable trigger mechanism that lets you select between four different pull weights with a simple Allen key tool, ranging from a crisp 1.35 pounds up to 3.15 pounds.

Cycling the action reveals a controlled-round feeding system that ensures the cartridge is gripped by the bolt face from the moment it leaves the magazine. This design prevents double-feeding or jamming when you are running the bolt quickly or holding the rifle at odd angles. The metal surfaces are treated with proprietary in-house nitriding, and the aluminum receiver is hard-anodized, which should protect the rifle from the elements even if you tend to neglect your cleaning routine after a wet day outdoors.
The rifle also introduces the patented S.E.A. safety system, which stands for Silent, Ergonomic, and Ambidextrous. It operates vertically through the stock, allowing you to take the weapon off safe with a simple thumb movement that avoids the loud metallic click common to older designs. This silence is a small victory for anyone who has ever lined up a shot on an animal only to watch it sprint away at the sound of a noisy safety selector engagement.

A detachable 10-round magazine feeds the system, though it features a locking mechanism that transforms it into a fixed magazine for compliance in restrictive regions or personal preference. The cold hammer-forged barrel is part of the modular CZ 600+ interchangeable barrel system, meaning you can swap calibers at a workbench later if you change your mind. It is a solid, adaptable iteration of a bolt-action rifle, backed up by a lifetime barrel warranty to ensure it keeps shooting straight for decades to come.
