We’ll be seeing more of Boba Fett after all after Season 2 of “The Mandalorian” ended last Friday. Disney and Lucasfilm announced that a new TV series will be coming next year to the Disney+ streaming service and it will be called “The Book of Boba Fett”.

For those who have been disappointed with the failure to launch of the Boba Fett movie, this is a welcome develop. Many Star Wars were kept in suspense during the final episode of “The Mandalorian” in which Boba Fett, played by Temuera Morrison, appeared.  A tweet posted yesterday finally confirmed it:

Star Wars The Book of Boba Fett

Temuera Morrison is no stranger to Star Wars, he first appeared as Jango Fett, the father of Boba Fett in “Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones” and as a clones in the “Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith”. He re-recorded the lines of Boba Fett in the 2004 release in DVD of the original Star Wars Trilogy which were the lines of the original voice of Boba Fett, Jason Wingreen who died in 2015. He finally played the role of Boba Fett in “The Mandalorian”, the hit Star Wars TV series.

On “Good Morning America, “The Mandalorian” creator Jon Favreau confirmed “The Book of Boba Fett” is a standalone TV series and he is developing it together with Dave Filoni. Temuera Morrison will reprise his Bobba Fett and will be joined by Ming-Na Wen who will also be reprising her role as Fennec Shand.

“The Book of Boba Fett” series has already started production with no date when it’s going premiere in 2021. As for “The Mandalorian”, a third season is on the way.

Below is the official confirmation of “The Book of Boba Fett” posted on StarWars.com:

THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT, A NEW SERIES, COMING DECEMBER 2021 ON DISNEY+
THE LEGEND WILL RETURN NEXT YEAR.

Boba Fett is back. And his story is just beginning.

As teased in a surprise end-credit sequence following the season finale of The Mandalorian, the legendary bounty hunter’s journey will continue in The Book of Boba Fett. Jon Favreau, executive producer of The Mandalorian, confirmed today on Good Morning America that the new series is currently in production and will arrive December 2021, only on Disney+.

The Book of Boba Fett will be set within the timeline of The Mandalorian and star Temuera Morrison as the titular bounty hunter, along with Ming-Na Wen as Fennec Shand. Robert Rodriguez — who directed Chapter 14 of The Mandalorian, a thrilling installment that reintroduced Boba Fett to the Star Wars galaxy — joins Favreau and Dave Filoni as executive producer.

Boba Fett made his big-screen debut in 1980’s Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, becoming an instant fan favorite thanks to his visually arresting armor and cool demeanor. Jeremy Bulloch, the original actor inside the armor, passed away last week — but his legacy, including all he brought to Boba Fett, goes on. The Book of Boba Fett will carry that legacy forward.

Season 3 of The Mandalorian will go into production next year.
